Yeah I lucked out finding this. It was already 75% in the direction of what I wanted to build in the future. It's actually an Apex rack meant for a 2nd gen. Bought some angle to remake the base, and then I will be modding it to be able to keep the rack on and fit a motorcycle in the bed. I considered lengthening it too to make it look nicer but decided it's not worth it since the cover would need to be redone/lengthened and thats half the reason I bought it. So instead I'll spend some extra dough on getting a fast back style back door made for it.

Kinda works. For the front, I ended Strapping it to the door itself so the weight isn’t resting on the mirror. For the rear, I need to run a strap to the tip back to the opposing bedside to help support it. The bedside twists and flexes a bit. It worked though

This was my first time buying “bulk” steel as opposed to cut to length. Damn it’s so much cheaper. I paid $55 for a 20’ stick of 2”x.120 square tube. Built a stand for my bender. Just need to get the hydraulic ram on.

They only carry dom round tube so they’re gonna order me some ERW since my bender can’t bend the .120 dom.

They really shouldn't have swapped out your tank for something different. If you brought a C25 and didn't get that back they for sure made a mistake because they normally won't even take swaps for different gas types like that unless the store is really cool or bad and bends the rules some

Wait... your bender can’t bend the .120 DOM?
Ouch!! 1.75x1.20 wall dom is mostly the standard for sliders, bumpers, cages, etc.

I thought CO2 tank valves had external threads? Your tri-mix gas has internal threads. Can you verify?

Hmm, I swore I read that somewhere but I may be getting it mixed up with another bender. I didn’t see it just now when looking at the site. I’ll have to dig more into it later

I got this cab mount relocation buttoned up on a 3rd gen a few days ago.

What is the purpose of doing those mount relocations?

It pretty much sucked just a little more than a 2nd gen, but as long as you jack the cab up and hold the wire harness way out of the way, it wasn't too bad.

Lots of grinding, because the plasma can only get you so far.

For when a regular cab mount chop isn't enough clearance for the tire.

Shit bolted onto other shit, and junk.
So I confirmed I did get MiG mix. I also asked about buying another tank and bringing it in to swap. I wasn’t aware of breaking any rules by bringing in an empty Argon and filling with MiG mix or vice versa.

I use a bottle of co2 to weld sometimes and for sure the bottles are different. I had to buy an adapter to be able to attach the argon regulator to it.

My co2 bottle is a liquid to air and the argon mix is compressed gas only

To be honest, dom is stronger but shouldn’t be that much different to bend. I’d be surprised if you can’t bend that. If it were my bender, I wouldn’t buy anything that can’t bend at least 2” x .25 wall dom. Again, I’d be surprised if your bender can’t do that.

Tire clearance. The stock mounts are bulky and often hit the body mount.

Even the expensive hydro bender at mobtown off-road can’t bend .25 DOM. He would have to upgrade his ram to be able to do that. I’d be surprised if any home/hobby level bender could bend that.
