Yeah. That's basically what I was thinking. I just figured I would double check here before I screwed anything up.

The mounting block that I'm trying to use doesn't require cutting into the siding.

The solar fan in my garage quit working a couple days ago. It was only putting out 1.6v at the fan. It's been hot so just before dark I hopped on the roof to see if a wire came loose in the recent winds. I guess three years of hot California sun is no good for 12 gauge speaker wire.

I have some marine grade 12 gauge I will replace it with until it enters the house.

I’m helping my son remodel his first house (main bathroom). Removed the one piece shower/tub, relocated a few walls, installed new plumbing for a stand alone tub and separate shower.
It astounds me that the use of 2x3 studs for walls and OSB as sub floor is a legal and accepted practice!

The block. It’s a middle house unit in a town house complex. The joists run unit to unit with a ‘fire cut’. None of the interior walls are load bearing.

I closed up my automatic pool cover on Monday because of the storm that was coming through, and yesterday, it wouldn't open. :goingcrazy: I could hear the motor running, and it would pull a little tension on the cover but wouldn't budge. Today, I pulled the service covers off and greased/oiled all the areas called out in the manual and tightened up the slip clutch, which got it working again. :yay: I think it has been sometime since the previous owners had it serviced because I pumped in a good bit of grease in before any squeezed out, and no old grease came out ahead of it. Of course, I had to run into town just after starting this morning because I finished off what was in my grease gun on the first fitting.

Haha. That grease gun is well travelled. The tube that was in it was probably around 5 years old if not older.

The first block I ordered wasn't the right profile. The new one showed up over the weekend and is the right profile, but I had higher priority things to work on. Hopefully, I'll get it up this weekend.

Does anyone know the R-value of wadded-up paper towels slathered in caulking?

That’s not even the worst example I’ve seen of it here. I’m remodeling the last room on our property. the kitchen was the first. I saw 2” gap filled in with paper towels weld and caulksing to cover the gap behind the poorly fitted cabinets.

I was actually impressed with the care that was taken to smooth it out though. Could barely tell it was there until I pulled the cabinet.
