camper shells arent water proof. this looks like it lets rain water run of the front and back ends so you dont get water on your face.

I removed my Yakima racks from the cap to fit the tent. I don’t think it would fit but I may be wrong. I’ll give it a try some time and let you know for sure!

    Much appreciated!
Idk dude I've gotten mine to waterproof. Just some flat clear paint, new window gaskets and rack gaskets. I seriously recommended butyl tape for sealing windows or racks that drill thru caps

I'm curious how you managed to waterproof the gaps around the rear tailgate. I'd love to seal this up.

I just sleep in the back of my truck using a Tenner modular military sleep system which has a gortex waterproof Bivy. I like to sleep under the stars and the only issue I have is with mosquito's sometimes. If its serious camping I have a couple different North Face ground tents I use.

The rooftop pop tents I see lots of people use wouldnt work for me. I always have to take a leek in the middle of the night and its a long way down when Im still mostly asleep.

It's not so bad getting up to pee from a roof top tent but definitely not as convenient as a ground tent. I keep an empty Gatorade bottle with me in case I don't feel like going down the ladder lol

Hopefully you don't mean the Gatorade bottle

Due to the design of my bed rack I have to have mine open over the tail gate, most folks go over the side of the bed

OP, have you considered a tent cot? I don’t have one yet, but it seems like it would be great for car camping. You could even put it in the bed of your truck if you wanted. This one is Kamprite’s oversized model.992E87B8-E453-4589-96D5-2116107D114D.jpg

I know it doesn't look very cool but I was just playing with my rain fly for my tent on my lunch break. I just drapped it over my bed bars and tied it down. I think it would be a cheap camping option off of the ground. It has a zipper on the back so it's easy to get in and out of. The fly goes to my Coleman hooligan ground tent. (I have the bed bars for kayaks and paddle boards. I dont own a roof top tent) I also have a pretty comfy cot that fits in my truck bed. So this works for me.

He has the short bed model. The tailgate and camper hatch need to be kept open to lie flat in the bed.

Exactly what I use. Heavy plastic, wide mouth, tight fitting cap, and deposable.

That’s kinda nifty actually. Idk how well me and the lady friend could fit in one though. I didn’t know they came like that.

Buy 2 of the"double" size. A single only works if you lie on your back all night.

I'll get some pics soon, but I used cap sealer to direct water flow from the cap door down the tailgate gaps. A couple drips come thru when I go to the carwash but all things considered that's good enough for me
