I just tried to install my pop and lock on my 2006 tacoma 2dr access cab and the instructions said to splice into the blue and the blue with a white stripe wire... I did that and then all I got was a clicking in my passenger door speakers. Waiting for tech support to get back to me. Anyone able to help??

There are 2 separate wiring looms fairly close to each other. One of these looms has the correct wires to splice into, one does not. I was lucky enough that one of the looms didn't have any wires matching the color codes called out by the instructions, so I went searching for the other loom and found it.

So I can't find any other solid blue or blue with a white stripe wires anywhere in that foot kick panel area. I butt spliced those two wires back together for now and pop and lock tech support went to vm so I left a msg. The instructions said for a 2 door 2005 and 2006 truck the blue and blue with a white stripe wire. I have an access cab but I still followed the 2 dr instructions instead of the 4 dr which seems righ . Or is it supposed to be in the cluster up above where I was?

Thank you! Those instructions that came with the lock are fucked lol says completely different wires haha. I think I searched this thread up a few weeks ago but once I read instructions I'm black and white and focused on those colors haha

So I got closer. I have power to the lock at least now and I can hear it trying to do something but doesn't lock or unlock. Key still works fin . I guess I'm gonna take the plastic off the tailgate and see if I can see what's going in with it. I was hoping it was just reversed at first with the lock as unlock or something.

This is a question for those more knowledgeable than me, so don't take this as something I'm recommending you try.... :) .

I suppose if all else failed, a guy could just run the wire into the passenger door and find the wires to the lock switch...when it unlocks, the gate will unlock...? Is that right? (or if you got the wires crossed in the door, it might lock when the door unlocks...so you'd just reverse the wires.......maybe??

You'd be tapping the switch, which tells the ECU to lock/unlock, not the pulse to actuate the solenoid in the tailgate lock.

So then the wires on the solenoid that moves the actual door lock switch? Or am I just off track even thinking about using anything in the door at all? Just spitballing and learning :) .
