So I have always been into old-school car audio and always liked the vintage home audio but never dove into it. I recently picked up a Marantz 2265 and a set of JBL L-100 speakers of the same vintage. The reciver needed a little work, I cleaned the pots, replaced a relay, installed a new power cord, and replaced a couple caps. The speakers belonged to the original owners and are in mint condition.

I am currently using a friend's turntable to play my parents records they gave me a few years back (they owned a record store from the early 60's until the late 70's) and I have to say that I don't think anything sounds nearly as good as a true HiFi sterio from early 70's.

Never got into vintage receivers or media players but I do have a set of floor speakers by Klipshe from the late 70's I believe. I'll check the paper stapled to the back that holds all the information. My dad is more into vintage stereos. He always liked Blaupunk (sp?) for his vehicles and I know he has a set of nice JBL floor speakers for his home stereo.

Vintage home stereo eqpt has skyrocketed in recent years. I've seen receivers on reverb.com go for thousands. Marantz, pioneer, Sanyo, etc.

Back years ago I bought a 74 Mercury cougar X-R7 and immediately installed a vintage Blaupunkt Berlin 8000 super arimat. This was in the early 90's.

I have a vintage Kenwood receiver that I use to listen to vinyl records. Nothing better than the sound of vinyl.

That will be my next investment, my mom owned a record store in the 60's and 70's and I now have her and my dad collection. It took 1 1/2 Silverado beds full to move them all from my parents house to mine.

GREAT!! Between trucks, guns, and audio it probably would be cheaper for me to pick up a drug addiction LOL. I have been doing a little collecting over the last couple years and you are absolutely right, its addictive. But the sound quality is so much better then digital

I guess I'm into vintage home audio. I still have my Marantz 2220 receiver I bought from a friend when I was a junior in high school...1974. I was only using it as a tuner. Still works great, had to replace the on/off switch about 30 years ago.

Use my Phase Linear 300 amp and 3300 pre amp almost daily. I bought both of them new in 1978. I think they were $600 each back then.

Sold my Kenwood turntable several years ago. When I moved to FL in 2001, I left all my albums at my folks house in Ohio. Asked my mom about them a year after moving and she had taken them all to Goodwill. said she thought I didn't want them. Was pretty devastated, many had only been played one time to record onto cassette with my SAE cassette player.

Two I really wish I still had was Blind Faith's album, and the original Skynyrd Street Survivor.

I’ve got a cool old B&O turntable. I work in the home technology industry, so I rescue some cool old stuff from the recycling bin from time-to-time. This piece didn’t come from that bin. D619CF15-0DE0-44DE-9604-BAF77E9D9958.jpg

Still using my TD160 I bought in '74 when I moved out of the house and my brother wouldn't let me take his turntable with me.

Nice piece. I have been researching turntables the past few weeks and the Thorens TB160 and TB124 are near the top if not on top of my list.

It's crazy some of the things people toss out as "old junk" not knowing what they actually have.

Figured so. Just curious. That headshell cover thing is pretty cool looking. Very old school Hi-Fi

Definitely. I don't mind, as long as I catch it before the recyclers show up. The piece I liked the most, even though it wasn't very valuable, was a Hafler 120 amp that I used for over a year before selling it. It was only a 60w/ch piece, but it sounded very good.

If anyone needs a VCR (or occasional LaserDisc player) let me know. :)

One of our techs snatched a McIntosh CD player out of the bin a year or so ago. I'm still a little jealous about that one.

I still have my Pioneer SX 828 (not my picture) but finally had to retire it a few years back when it started to make funny noises at random. I keep thinking I'll get it repaired one of these days but I'm likely just kidding myself.
