Anyone looking for a 27.5 bike? I'm trading it in on Pro's Closet Friday through a local bike shop if no one wants it. 2018 Rocky Mountain Altitude C70 Sram model in large. Upgrades: 2020 DPX2 Fox Factory Rear Shock, Upgraded internals of rear hub to DT Swiss 240 and XO1 Shifter. Just replaced the front seals and wipers on the shock and have a fresh rear tire on the bike. Pedals not included. Asking $3000, you pay boxing/shipping if necessary

Of course, but the race is still between us two. You'll have to wait for us at the bottom.

Yes, Whistler was more of a place holder for "trip".

A buddy of mine is stationed in Germany right now, may have to go crash at his place and bomb around Switzerland or something.

This is an old one, but I've been talking with Martin Offroad and Sherpa about racks to fit with my camper. They both look like great options and for much cheaper than Prinsu.

Thank you much! We're only doing 10 days total so it'll be quick. We've biked and skied many of the popular spots in Wyoming and Montana at this point and so I'm trying to focus on Idaho for this trip. We were actually in McCall to ski out of the lick creek yurt with Payette powder guides a few months ago, though we haven't biked there. I've heard good things about Stanley and Ketchum from a few people, as @flipnidaho mentioned, so we'll add that to the agenda.

We also lived in Corvallis for like 6 years and used to bike/ski Bend all the time. We're definitely stopping through, but I have that area dialed! Since we'll have our 10 month old, we'll definitely be self-shuttling.

Sick! I love my 2018 Scout, but I'll probably be on the lookout for that frame used or closeout in the near future. I think just about everything should swap over.

FWIW the Anvil seat that came on my 2018 Scout is easily the best saddle I've ever had for me. Just goes to show every ass is different.

Several folks. I know for sure myself and @Bannerman are 5’7” and both roll on 29ers. @flipnidaho is in the 5’6” range but don’t recall if his Evils are of the 29 or 27.5 variant. Knowing him he’s definitely ridden many miles on both though.

Wow you guys have some extreme bikes! I just bought this bad boy today. I'm ready to take it off some sweet ramps . Just kidding. It's for recreational purposes to get my fat ass off the couch.

By the way, does anyone have any experience with those tailgate pads for bikes from Thule or Yakima? Or am I better off purchasing a hitch rack?

@flipnidaho Any specific trails you'd recommend around Ketchum and/or Stanley? There are a ton of options (duh) and it'd be nice to camp near the trails we're gonna ride. We'll probably only spend a day or two in each spot and we'll have our 10 month old, so I doubt we'll get to sample more than 4 trails or so...

Welcome! I just purchased a tailgate pad, though I got the Fox one. Didn't spring for the more expensive Thule/Yakima Pads.

I went with a pad over the hitch racks, mostly because of the cost, hitch racks are expensive, and the pads just seem easier to deal with, and can hold more bikes than a rack.

Current plan does include a stop in SLC/PC on the way home in August. Dates are TBD.

Awesome thanks for the info. I was also looking at the Fox one on Amazon. Have you had a pretty good experience with it overall? I will probably only carrying me and my girlfriend's bikes for it's entire use.

I did some MTB out in Ketchum a few years ago, and did the Adam's Gulch Trail up to the Forbidden Fruit Flow, and then up and over to the rest of the Adam's Gulch Loop.

Here's the loop on MTB Project: https://www.mtbproject.com/trail/5887852/adams-gulch-intermediate-loop

I thoroughly enjoyed it, despite it being pretty easy.

29 is great. I don’t see 27.5 having any advantage anymore now with modern geometry the way it is.

I haven't had a chance to test it out yet, I only just received it. But I've been considering pads for a long time and weighing them against the other options out there, and finally just pulled the trigger. I don't think I'm going to regret the decision at all. I've used the Thule gator thing, for mounts, and both of those were less convenient than the idea of a pad, especially when hauling more than one bike. I think I'm going to be pretty happy with the pad, as long as it holds up to use over time.
