not being a dick but are you new to manual trans? you should have a very good feel for when the clutch catches and how the truck should react?

Major clutch riding going on in this video. I would have 100% done that in 4lo and avoided roasting the clutch.

If you were in 4lo then...I suggest more practice before wheeling with a manual

no worries I am new to all of this but really like it. Maybe could’ve avoided it but it’s done. All the tips here is what I’ll try next time hopefully the issue is fixed and not too much money to fix

You can hear his engines' rpm and how slow he is going, he is in too high of a gear. His clutch is getting smoked at that point. Should have been in 4lo.

I noticed a lot of times the pic or video doesnt do justice how steep the climb is. So many times i took a pic or a video on a very steep hill and it looked like i was almost on flat ground.

Try it, go park on a crazy hill, take a picture and look at it. You will be surprised.

I've been on many a wheeling trip where I'm the only one with a manual, and everyone else is doing shit in 4hi and asking me why the hell I'm in 4lo.

Because clutch jobs are expensive you mf'ers lol

I totally agree with wrong gear but I think in the right gear it would have been no problem in 4HI. In fact that hill looks like it would have been no problem in 2wd.

I also do agree that looks can be deceiving on hill height in a photo/video but you can definitely see the limited incline when looking at the rocket panels on the truck.

Either way, OP, only one way to learn! Enjoy the truck!

Well yeah and people dont realize that torque converter multiplies torque. In MT? nothing multiplies torque except for transfer case.

I throw it in 4lo as soon as i can when im wheeling.

Running over big rocks all indiscriminately on an incline the way he was, you definitely want to be in 4lo or I guarantee each time he hit one of those big rocks he was roasting his clutch to keep from stalling.

You cannot tell the incline in that video. 4.88 gears with 4Lo that hill would have been fun!

I think its a bit of everything. Wrong gear, new to wheeling and not experienced with MT.

You need to be in 4WD low especially when going uphill and with a manual transmission in slower rockier roads. 4WD low is your friend!

I had a manual 4wd tacoma before and never had any issues like this after 150k miles and on original clutch.

lol. that's gonna be a lotta money to fix.

do not recommend replacing with a OE clutch for obvious reasons. then learn how to preserve the new one unless you want to do it all over again.
