    1. Wireless Car Play and tethering your phones hotspot to your headunit at the same time is not possible. The head unit uses your phones wifi connection for wireless carplay. If you wish to use Car Play with and your phone's hotspot to surf, you will need to connect your phone via a usb/lightning cable. I have gotten around this by having a mobile hotspot in my truck (ATT Harmon Spark). Every cell company has their own version.
    2. I am using a front rear camera anytime mod. The controller for the mod is using one of the unused keys (mode key). I have see people build shortcuts on their display for the cameras but not the steering wheel buttons. Good luck on this one.
    3. The VSS wire on the radio harness (pink) had a matching VSS signal wire in the Maestro RR harness kit (also pink). I also know that Pioneer has some restrictions on where they allow you to surf. I did not have any browser settings other than a terms of use acknowledgement to get my browser to connect.

I have been driving a fair amount lately and let me tell you, this screen and WAZE.... Guaranteed that I dodged at least one ticket. It looks as flawless as i have seen in a car as far as how the unit fits in. The TA,EQ,etc..... You guys with just stock speakers should be stoked, quite a bit of options to clean up your sound image. Few quirks that are seeming to iron themselves out, but I finally can say that I dont miss my kenwood when it comes to SQ. Worth the 1k IMO.

All I'm saying is I sure wish they would have thought out our 1st gen climate/radio space. I'm currently in the market and looking at the 9" but It's not going to fit. Have to stick w a 6.8" 2 din. 2nd and 3rd gen especially looks so much sleeker and like they were meant for the truck. Any larger screen on a 1st gen looks out of place in my opinion. Our interior is so boring and dinosaur.

You know what they say about nickleback?

If you play thier music backwards you hear the devil? Even worse if you play it forwards you hear nickleback.

In all seriousness. I like the look of this deck.

Have anybody had an experience with the
Pioneer DMH-C5500NEX? If so, how does it compare to this head unit?

I have no idea why that was on the YouTube home screen, I’m guessing because I wasn’t logged in. The video kinda entertaining although I still can’t stand Nickleback.

I have the cheap Kicker & Subaru Kicker speakers in my truck. I was going to connect a Kicker Key to them but I legit don’t need to anymore. This stereo pushes them without a problem. At 25 it’ll damn near run you out of the truck and will sound great while doing it. If you’re doing nothing else with speakers at least spend the extra money for the Kicker upgrade.

Yeah I hear ya. I just installed the key with the stock unit. I don't mind the stock head unit. I stopped getting aftermarket head units cuz they look cheap. But this one I would consider getting. It's real nice looking and I'm sure has tons of cool features.

This one doesn’t look cheap at all. Other than it not being a 100% perfect fit (but it’s pretty dang close) this unit looks very close to OE.

Alright everything arrived today and I ended up installing the damn thing. All functions well, though I probably screwed something up with the auto dimmer light control.

    *edit

Figured it out, forgot to connect the orange wire to the orange/white one. auto dimmer works perfectly now.

Unit just came in today. I wanted to get a quick opinion from you guys that used the premium bezel with this. Are you satisfied, or do you wish you would have purchased a standard bezel and routed it perfect?

I have the premium bezel at the moment, and I'm debating.

Try it with the premium bezel first then decide. Doesn't hurt your premium bezel.

Thanks everyone who contributed info to this thread. I am starting to get all my supplies in and trying to prep for the install as much as possible. Couple questions I have.

    1. The Maestro wiring diagram indicates to cut and remove the speaker wire junction connectors. Did you cut them or just cap them?
    2. I do not see anything about the blue wire for the antenna adapter. Is there somewhere this can be connected?

    Thanks again!

I followed the instructions exactly as they said. When you cut them, you’ll reuse them if I remember correctly.

I don’t recall connecting the blue wire on the antenna adapter.

    1. you will cut the RCA connectors and connect the wires to the pioneer harness.
    2. the blue wire is a remote turn on wire. you will connect it to the blue wire in the maestro harness. this is also the wire you will use for remote activation of amps and other things you want to turn on when your head unit is on. I have used it to turn on my "anytime camera" mod controller.
