Yeah I agree with everyone, it's really about the functionality over the looks.

I'm sick of getting scratches, I'm gonna go Line-X myself in the bathroom really quick. Who cares what I'll look like, because damn I'll be functional.

i havent read all the posts cuz i dont got the time. But I will say that it is a smart idea if you have body damage, you just slap on the bondo and dont have to worry about sanding or makin it look perfect. It also hides all the rock chips and scratches from off-roading. also, it is very inexpensive compared to a regular paint job. It looks best on trucks that are "murdered out" with dark tint and black everything. my friends tundra looks sick. As for cleaning it, pressure washing is the way to go, just make sure the pressure is not too high. and the best part is you wont have to worry about door dings every time you see a parking lot.

I haven't kept track of mpg but there must be some drop with the extra weight. I haven't weighed the car yet but it must be 150 or 200 lbs. extra.

I think Bakotruck is thinking about wind drag more than weight. but yeah that stuff is heavy too.

Okay, thanks. I'm sure there was some kind of drop, but not enough to notice.

Well, I was thinking more about the weight, but now that you bring up wind drag that could possibly play a big role in MPG's too.

I personally don't care about scratches and shit like that. I view it as a right of passage...I think a painted truck with scratches looks better than rhino lined and faded. But I have seen a few members on here who've had it done and there's looks great...because it was fresh and new. Give it a summer or a winter and it'll fade and look bad aswell. This is just my .02 guys

honestly, people here are acting like its a sin to do something to a truck. As for the value depreciating, who cares? A lot of people keep their trucks until they break or cant be used any more. Its not like the people who do this are going to turn around and sell it in 3 months. In 5-10 years the truck will be depreciated to the point where it wont really matter.
We have all seen the old beat up yotas rolling around such as this
    [IMG]
maybe if they had lineX their truck would be worth more now, because it might be less beat up. Just playing devils advocate.

My 05 which is 5 years old can fetch about $23k around here and I sold my 98 after 9 years for $13k.. I wouldn't say either of those in 5-10 years are depreciated to the point it doesn't matter...

Glad that WNYTACOMA gave me such a good excuse to test out the "ignore user" setting.

WOW. Lots of judgemental ppl here! Go ahead and say that its not for you, but then drop it. If I knew I would have the truck for the duration and planned to beat the piss out of it, I would consider it too. I agree the OP's example looked horrible. But the others looked pretty good. Anyway, to each thier own. I'd still ride shotgun.

i wouldnt do it. some of the examples look pretty good.

BUT! i dont understand the arguement, that bedliner protects the paint..sure, but what's the point of protecting the paint, if you cant see it anymore? i'm sure under that layer, it is just as shiny and smooth as new.

i use my truck, i have a few dings and scratches from rubbing some hard-stuff..they dont bother me at all.

Like someone here already mentioned, I am sure the crappy quality of the picture the OP posted has alot to do with the "appearance" of the truck.

It's like the OP said, he took the pic with his cell phone and we all know many of us don't have freakin CANONs for cell phones .

Most of you it seems just simply didn't acknowledge that fact. :p

and if for some ODD reason this little post pisses you off, ya need to stop being a little WHINY BITCH!! :D
