What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

I've got one of those on my truck and absolutely love it. even if it's the alternator instead of the battery, imo the upgrade is worth it. plus when you spend extra money on batteries they can last longer than what it says on the tin. my old battery that i replaced with the x2 power one was a 4 year starter battery that retailed for about 230 dollars if i remember correctly (bought by the PO of the truck but i looked it up to see what one would run me). when i replaced mine it had almost 9 years since the date sticker on it.

 

Mine made it 4 wheeling seasons and then all the boots starting giving out. I got the high angle inner and cheap outers. I just rebooted them with OEM boot kits and they're still going strong.

 

Awesome I can live with that. I've got a spare set of which at least one is OEM I got off of @5amStevens. So will reboot the OEM for sure as a spare just in case. Thanks for sharing your experience with them. They were awesome to order from

I bought it from Batteries and Bulbs+. If you buy it online and pick up in store I received a 15% discount. Plus the $18 they give you for the core of your old battery. So after tax and core return it was around $275.

 

That's where I got mine as well.
I wasn't in my Toyota so I'll take my core back later this week.

He said it had a 5 yr warranty but often lasts much longer. He also said these were the same batteries that our city uses in the mass transit busses.

Agreed. I was just looking through his build thread to see If I could figure out what kind they were but didn’t see them.

 

Is the 35 or 24 better? Not sure what the difference is

They’re SDHQ battery terminals. So nice for cleaning up the wiring.

next mod is going to be 4:88s but I’m also considering going down a tire size when the time comes as well.

4.88s would be pretty extensive with only 265s. I'd just go down to 265s before doing gears like that. 4.10s shouldn't be that bad with 265s. In fact should make your speedo near dead accurate.
