    You're right. In 4HI you can certainly feel it grab more quickly.

    I like how in 4LO you can take your foot completely off the clutch and roll.

    Ideally a clutch should last you 100k or more, there are guys in the 1st gen section still on their original clutches with 250k+ miles. Those are usually mostly highway miles though.

    When you wheel with a manual though you're going to be harder on the clutch no matter how much of a pro you are, but it certainly should last longer than a few thousand miles lol. I've got about 50k on my current clutch right now with a lot of wheeling miles on it. You'll get better as you go, just know that if you're on the accelerator and your foot is also on the clutch (even a little bit), you're wearing it down. Do it for any extended period of time and you're burning it up

    That happened to me once before too, there was a casting flaw in the fork and naturally it broke in the middle of winter after a major blizzard, ugh!

    Where's the guy that replies to nearly every thread with simply:

    You'll get a some shit talking on here but never take it to heart. Most people want to help. Some people don't know shit but talk like they do. So double and triple check all the info you get here before you spend any money. Off road driving with a manual transmission requires its own level of skill and knowledge. I haven't done it in years but my fist TJ was manual and I remember how much fun it could be but also how much more of a pain in the ass it could be. Switching the t-case to 4lo helps on really steep hills with a lot of articulation like you have in your video. It's hard not to ride the clutch to keep from stalling but just know that the more you do it the faster that clutch will need to be replaced. You should alway be either all the way in or all the way out with the clutch. If you plan on doing harder offroading you might want to consider re-gearing.

    It's painful to listen to that as it's apparent OP has no idea how to drive stick.

    Nail --> Head.

    OP, watch some videos on how to drive stick and the mechanics on how it works. There are some great videos out there. Here are some pointers:
    1. By the time the vehicle is going 2 mph, you should be completely off the clutch.
    2. When you are releasing the clutch, your RPMS should never be above 1200
    3. 4-Lo makes your gears smaller, so you can maintain the minimum RPM (800) at a lower speed (1 mph) with no clutch needed
    4. The neutral engine speed is about 800 RPM. Don't add any gas until the RPMs start to dip below 800 RPM.
    5. Consider any moment the clutch is not fully in or fully out poison. Minimize that time at all cost.

    Just some tips from a guy who's been doing it for 21 years and never owned an automatic.

    Your front bumper looks awesome. :burnrubber:

    As long as it's a lesson learned, it's experience earned. Reminds me of when a friend of mine told me he let a buddy learn manual in his car and started on a steeper incline...of course he accidentally started in 3rd. You can still smell clutch

    I let a friend try and drive mine when we were makin an evening run to grab takeout and he said he knew how to drive manual. After he killed the engine 3 times before we made it 10 feet I said no because the place would be closed by the time we got there

    I’ll work on my manual driving. Driving on road I consider I’ve been good but off roading is a different story. I really like the manual though and not trading it for anything. There has to be a beginning for everything and I consider mistakes are part of the learning process
