TRD/ Magnuson 4.0 Supercharger Tips, Tricks, and Mods

When @JuanitoBunito and I added shorties and high flow cats, we mean straight shot cats. When I hit 120 today in Mexico, I know they were flowing hard.

I've read through the installation destructions for this thing. One thing I'm not crazy about is their "fuel pump booster" which sounds like it's just a band-aid for a real pump. I'd suggest an honest upgrade and external filter.

Looks like you'll be changing the oil in that thing every time you do an engine oil change as well. Keep that in mind.




Spark plugs. Do the Rutheniums. These guys are basically saying that the plugs thay they recommend need changing at 10k intervals. I guess they're not included. Neither are the new wires. *snicker*

I'm not fully up to speed on the cat thing. Forgive me. What's the current hot setup for header/cat combo that'll flow well and last? Currently I'm on JBA shorties with the stock cats welded on. Throwing a P0430 regularly for the past couple weeks.

@JuanitoBunito and I are running DT shorties and Vibrant 7101 cats. I copied him.

I like my setup a lot. I haven’t had any issues what so ever. I was told that when I bought the cats they’d last......so far so good

 

No issues with my sensors at all.....but hopefully one day I’ll delete them, as well as my aic

 

Don’t like the 2.9L Whipple?

Will let you know how it turns out. I broke four teeth on my original 4.88 ring gear, but ECGS changed it out no questions asked. They are amazing. They are also backing the Dana 60 and told me to bring in a video of whatever it is that I can do with a Tacoma to break their 35 spline chromoly axles. We shall see, I am gonna be front wheel drive for a bit waiting on a two piece drive shaft to get made. I got deavers stage IIIs coming Monday and the rear discs all setup with the parking brake option now. Just got to weld on shock hangers for the relocation.

So much want. I am gonna sell my 4.88 ARB diff and probably get this setup. I don’t need the long travel but damn I would love to get this setup. It is gonna save some much tubbing. I already moved the cab mounts and have a 1” body lift and still need cutting.

 

Agreed. The Harrop kits have more thought put into them. They even have a new tensioner with a stiffer spring for the Tundra.
