Wow, if Toyota knew that many of these first generation Tacomas are now approaching or exceeding the half million mark, they would completely shit their pants. The last thing any corporation wants to be in competition with is themselves, or in this case themselves twenty years ago. Toyota just like all of the fat American corporations. It wants people buying new trucks.

Believe me, they know. That's why they keep building them that way. Most people out there, I think, just want a stone reliable vehicle that will last them a very long time. Not a race car or race truck. Aside from frame rust issues of the past, I hope, Toyota delivers. The way the population on this planet is growing they have customers forever. Mom and dad buy a couple of Toyatas and love them. They have 3 kids and tell them to buy a Toyota when they get old enough. If even some kids do Toyota wins. So far, my 2004 RC 4X4 has been the most maintenance free, most reliable vehicle I have ever owned. It's a shame they don't build something like an F-550 CC which will be my next vehicle. I'll tow the Taco behind it.

Crew pleased to report we've passed the halfway mark to our second lunar orbit. All systems check (including the CEL); we did have to make an in-flight replacement of our original front wheel bearings a few miles back.

Catch you at the next 25k.

    Keep the Tacos flying!

    Houston,
We have @tpole in our sights and following in his shadow at Mach 87. Just hit him with the laser and were only 23k away from him now.
Time to ignite the supercharger and go in for a closer look.:)

    Houston:

We're now approximately 100,000 miles from entering our second lunar orbit. All systems check, although we did replace our original fuel pump a few miles back. Lower control arms are showing their age and we anticipate their replacement before the year's end.

We assume Supercharged Denver John still has our back and will soon break radio silence.

    Keep the Tacos flying!

1st gens seem to be the most reliable. My dad and I put 200k on our 2000 4 cyl auto (work truck) and that poor thing was BEAT. All in 4 years. Never had an issue. Basic maintenance and nothing more.

I bought my 3rd gen hoping I could do the same. We shall see....
