Has anyone have experience riding both the Gen 3 Nomad and a YT Capra with coil shocks? or just experience riding both? I’m building a Nomad 3 right now but recently got a Canecreek DB coil for my Capra and it feels like a whole new bike. Now I’m having second thoughts on which bike to keep. Haven’t had the nomad 3 up to test ride yet.

After being a member of tacomaworld since 2015 I finally picked up my first Tacoma recently. Hauling bikes this way is so much better than my old Fiesta.

Question for you guys - if you have the short bed, could you fit a modern full suspension enduro bike under a tonneau cover laying down in the bed with the front wheel off? Done some measurements and looks like it would definitely be tight, but could possibly work. Any first hand experience?

Not sure on full length of yours, but this is what I did with my giant fathom 27.5’er when I bought it (before I had my bike rack). It was tight, but it fit (wheel off of course). It’s the 2020 fathom 2 27.5’er if that helps you compare measurements

If you left the tailgate down. On my Bronson, and now especially my transition, not a chance.

Thanks. Mine is a size L 29er so sounds like it wouldn't fit. Damn. Trying to justify the short bed but seems I really need the 6 foot bed.

Hitch rack man. Having driven my buddies long bed for a week, and then driving my short bed around, way easier on trails and in tight parking lots. Only time I wish I had a long bed is when I haul lumber which is like maybe once a year.

Bringing back memories of a great trip I had a few years ago. Jackson Hole trails are sweet! Great summer culture there, too

Best experience I've had in Jackson is meeting up with some of my local buddies, having a burger on the 2nd floor balcony of Liberty Burger, and heckling the tourists trying to parallel park on the street below. Not sure I could live in Jackson with all the tourist traffic, but it's a great place to visit from time to time.

Long term that's just not the way you're going to want to haul a bike around, so I wouldn't base my truck purchase on that.

Big Bear in Southern California? How was it? I've been planning on going up there soon!

I could fit my bike almost completely flat in the short bed with the wheel on, just one handlebar sticks up out of the bed, I would guess with the front wheel off, you could easily make it work.

It was pretty unbearable for the years I lived there.

yes that’s the one! I didn’t ride at all, my lady is from Northern California and has never been, so we drove up and explored for the day. Went to a bunch of the smaller lakes, big bear lake, and lake arrowhead. It all looks great, perfect weather, and not crowded at all. Snow Summit bike park is open and Sky Park is also open, not super crowded. I’m definitely itching to head over to one of those parks soon.

If you head up, just know that the highway is closed between snow valley and big bear lake for cliff side cleanups, they close the road from 9am to 3pm so if you are heading up, plan your driving around those times. The closures will be done next week though.

I'd go ACLB in a heartbeat if I didn't have this damn kid!

Edited to concur with @mtskibum16. Don't pick your truck based on transporting a bike that way. Ultimately you're gonna want a tailgate pad or some sort of rack.

Yeah, Rob and them normally stick to the east side over by Bud's where they live. Don't venture to town square all that often.

Perfect zone. I lived in a house (as did like 6 other people) a few blocks east of the base of snow king.

Our place got demoed and the lot was consumed by condos. Was a killer pad. House was on an acre with an empty but fenced in additional acre. Was great since everyone had dogs and tons of toys.

Crazy. Few people here ride RMs right? I wonder if they have enough inventory to cover all of the potential replacements too
