What a saga. My problem with most dealership experiences is that they are quick to wright you off as a Know-nothing nobody and are always afraid to admit they don't know the answer to something. I lose a lot of respect for people who are quick to make up some bullshit instead of just saying "you know what, I don't know for sure, but I can find out". Even worse is when they decide to double down on their BS and give you more BS to try to cover up their mistake. Unfortunately it's common in a lot of places.

It's really refreshing when you ask a "professional" something and they are actually honest and admit they don't know for sure or that they made a mistake. When that happens they earn my trust and respect. Unfortunately dealerships are full of 20-30 year experienced service writers and managers that have an ego and think they have seen it all and know it all.

Okay, I'm almost off my soapbox but there should really be a bulletin somewhere or some other sort of documentation that explains why some Tacomas do not have the exterior transmission cooler. In my opinion this situation is unacceptable. This should 100% be a "Kaizen" & "Toyota Way" moment that Toyota brags so much about.

I agree, which is why I called the tranny shop I dealt with in the past. With things being the way they are right now financially, he could have easily sold me some BS and charged me a lot of money for something I didn't need and way over priced. I respected that and told him so, and thanks.

I know that I am enjoying my Taco. I was hard leaving it in garage today, but it is riding weather here.

I'm actually in the process of finishing my cap modifications so mine is in the garage too. But should only be there for today.

Nice. Whatcha doing to your cap? I gotta get my Softopper back on for some camping. I painted the rails and mounts black. I might do the frame later in the summer also.

Rain tomorrow, so my morning coffee cruise will be a Taco fest. Got a new tune to play with.

    Yup! :D

It is buried in a convo, but I believe @Shellshock painted his mount parts. That was an ah-ha! moment. Then, there was a post from someone around these parts that painted the upper frame. By gawd it looked good.

This is not de-chroming! Just a slightly different obsession.

I just have the rails and mounts finished at the moment.

We earned this weather with all the rain the last few weeks. I've got a pile of firewood to split and a new fire pit to test out tonight.

It seems to be phasing out. Nothing in the purchase and sale to tie it to. So, mod time.

Oh boy. The cold and wet stayed around a bit long. That typical early nice week landed right as the virus situation ramped up.

I'm happy to get in some dry commute rides and paddling in.

I have been dreaming of a fire pit. Making due with the charcoal grille for now.

Ah. I have not re-installed them yet. For the dry summer weather, I used to take the tonneau off. Doing the same with the ST unless heading out camping because every time that I go, it rains, usually just before I start packing up.

    No moar wet tentz!
