Hey guys, has anybody dropped their vehicle off to a dealership for the undercarriage spray?

I just got a call from my dealership asking me to drop my truck off so they can do this as part of the frame recall.. they said they’ll need it for a week!

Just curious as to others experiences.

No and Yes. had the inspection and CRC spray in ~Dec 2017. Toyota dealer couldn't do it so they outsourced it to a local shop. Stuff was falling off a year later, brought it in, found a hole and got a frame swap ~Feb 2019. Been using Fluid Film on the new frame.

Same, I got my CRC last spring. Got till Sept 2021 for the second inspection

Nobody's perfect, at least Toyota doesn't try to fuck the customer over like GM did to me. Oddly a 5 yr old engine puking is "normal" and somehow 2 of their warranties didn't apply..

Or like Chrysler did to me when my Dodge Dakota’s engine grenaded at 20MPH at 17,000 miles and just outside the 3 year / 36,000 mile warranty period.

Shitty. Mine was still in the powertrain warranty, plus there was a "secret" warranty extending that and the dealer still wouldn't fix it much less all the other stuff it just "somehow" needed now.

Come to think of it, my parents have a Hyundai Sonata 10/100k powertrain. The trans went out at 11.5/70K. Dealer called Hyundai and went to bat, got it done free.

So what about trucks that aren't in the "qualified" states that Toyota defines "High road salt use"? I live in Iowa and they use a large amount of salt like the other states on the list, however it is not listed. What are the options for that? I don't have any issues currently but wondering down the road what may come of that.

Dealership said my truck passed and they sprayed the CRC. Person briefly showed me the pictures that they took on the inside of the frame for verification. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ My frame has a little surface rust on the outside. Hopefully everything is good.

    This.

Or f’ing fix the issue. I now know 5 people that this happened to, including my brother. My friend (in Cali, with Cali purchased truck even had it replaced) due to corrosion.

I used to really love Toyota’s, but when my dad has a 25 year old Ford & and my stepmom a 15 year old car in MI that they still drive in salt road filled winters with solid frames and some 7-12 year old Toyota Tacoma frames look like they were sitting on the ocean. I’ve seen shipwrecks look in better condition than some Tacoma frames.

Toyota has known about this for many years. My brothers Tacoma was an 2003 first gen, and guys in 3rd gens are still seeing this issue. My letter in the mail states owners of 2011-2017 are experiencing the issue and are covered. The older WEP said 2005 to 2010. That is 13 model years that they were forced to admit it due to a class action lawsuit. Plus, the problem began much earlier than 2005 on 1st gens like my brothers 2003. Toyota still has not addressed the issue. The Toyota of today is quickly becoming the Ford of yesterday. I do not have faith in the Toyota’s the same as I used to.

People can flame all they want but Toyota’s are going downhill fast...

Just got mine back from the dealership after they had it for a week. Looks like they did a good job. CRC compound coming out of openings in the frame that was open during manufacturing. I may go under it this summer and do spot treatments on the outside of the weld areas just to be cautious. Manager said the warrantee on the frame is good till June of 2026

Those pic’s look about the norm for average . I just picked up a 2015 and looked about the same , just gave it a good coat of Por-15 . I live in a high salt / snow area . This 2015 is the Easter lamb , using this as the work vehicle to keep the miles and slop off the new 200 series land Cruiser .C20EB88F-1EE8-4DC7-BE2E-5C4BEA085A7C.jpg

Anyone in the Seattle area have this done yet? My 2011 has a little more than it should now that they salt everything in this city. Is there on of these for the 2013 Toyota highlanders yet? My wife's ride is terrible.

My 2015 is at the dealer now getting the frame treatment. The tech said the service is to spray inside certain areas and to install some plugs

well, nothing to see really, some new frame plugs and a little white splooge dripping out here and there, it is not black tarry goop, it looks more like lithium grease what they sprayed inside the front box parts of frame, the outside of frame and exposed open rear sections are untouched.

Had my inspection 6 or 7 mo ago, and just got a call from dealer said I was ok for frame CRC spray and the air pump had a recall too they would do. I made appt for first week of July and they will give me a loaner but said they need it for 2 days. Will advise when I get it back.

I have a 2007 Tacoma. I just had it in to my local shop for an oil change. Mechanic advised of frame rust concern. This is the first I have been made aware of this issue.
I contacted my local Toyota dealership and they advised that I missed the program and should contact Toyota Canada.
Toyota Canada has denied any acknowledgement of frame rust issue with my 2007 Toyota Tacoma. They stated that as my particular truck was manufactured and sold to the USA market, Toyota Canada is not responsible for repairs.
Am I out of luck in this regard? I'm sure there must be other Toyota owners who were never made aware of this problem.

if it is usa truck in canada you are boned, or register it in USA and have USA toyota look at it

crossing the border is a problem with TSB and recalls it must be in country of origin (original sale title)
to be covered, no wiggle room iirc
