CNBC says stocks are down because Apple is closing stores in Florida and Arizona again. Seem like a stretch?

I feel like Apple is being dubious and intending to create more panic - I am sure that lockdowns are good for their bottom line, as a tech company.

 

I don't understand how people are saying that the Apple announcement tanked the market, but Apple is barely down today.

 

As tech companies go I’d say it doesn’t benefit them like it does others. They really thrive on people spending discretionary income on devices every year or 2. We will see how that shakes out in the fall. Other aspects of their business are probably doing just fine, same as other tech companies.

Daily Stock news headlines and stories are generally a joke. If I were to do anything with them it would be opposite of what they infer.

 

Exactly. They use that headline, meanwhile Apple was down less that .5 % they can’t just say markets are up or down, they need to act like they know why.

 

If the inference being made by the Apple headline is that more lock downs are coming, I am not really understanding it. That would be a stretch in my opinion.

 

Apple has tons of money in cash, they might be attempting to make a long term play to weaken other competitors

 

It’s funny in a way isn’t it. Often different media outlets give different reasons for ups and downs. Most are clueless but have to write something, but I suspect others are getting paid under the table when they promote or demote certain stocks.

 

I’d ask anyone who thinks that’s a possibility, why? What’s the point? We kind of tried it, not very well, maybe it worked a little for reducing hospitalizations, but then we said enough. It doesn’t work trying again now that people are ready to be back doing things. I’d be shocked if there was any kind of large scale shutdown. It won’t work
