What silliness. I thought chicken & waffles was just a south thing, when did it become a "racial" thing?

I'm just waiting for the other shoe to drop -- when there are no more black brand icons the companies will be pilloried for lack of diversity.

I thought the same, taking Aunt Jemima's picture off the box could be considered more racist than leaving it.

It's to the point that no matter what you do, you'll outrage 50% of the population.

I don't think I've personally been outraged by anything, ever.

How can you stand by and be calm in these trying times! Why, I’m outraged at your lack of outrage! :D

The lack of outrage, actually has caused some outrage lately. You can't make this stuff up!

    Outraged? No.

I've been annoyed by a company or store before. Yet I simply quit buying from them and moved on. (Usually try to communicate to them why, but I don't dwell on such matters)

It’s a lot like the headline discussion. I’m not going to tell people of any background how to feel about anything, but I’m sure if there are 300 people at this Amazon thing, 200 maybe care about the food, 50 say sweet, I love chicken and waffles, 25 don’t eat chicken, and 25 think it’s racially insensitive, which is their right, and that’s the part that will get reported. You can’t please everyone. I guess they could have just had local restaurants provide a variety of food and not announce serving an “authentic” meal of chicken and waffles. But there will always be a group within every group that gets upset.

My son and daughter in law have, shall we say, diametrically different political views than I do.

Some days I can really relate to Last Man Standing.

I'm waiting for the day I get called out for my lack of onboardedness in social media.

What leaves me just shaking my head is that they were supporting local black owned businesses.

Nothing too exciting today, picked up some @Boyk1182 FRT when it approached 84.50. Yielding that close to 5 was just to tempting to pass up. Now I’ve reinvested my dkng profits and feel good about myself heading into the weekend

Ah, yeah. There's this part too:
"The leader who put on this event had good intentions to honor Juneteenth by supporting a local small business owned by a member of the Black community. After receiving some feedback from team members at the site, they’ve since decided to remove the sign in question.”

Amazon said the choice of venue and the poster were made by diverse local leadership, including the facility’s site leader, who is Black. The business is one of employees’ favorite restaurants, so they felt it was appropriate to show support on Juneteenth."

I went way heavy into FRT for the same reason as you, I bought a 5% yield on a company that has been increasing dividends for decades. I now have to catch my other holdings up to that (and a few others that are overweight), but I think it was a great opportunity. Capital gains will be good too as it reverts to its average yield.

Haven't made any moves today. I did pull some additional cash into my brokerage account that I want to drop into VTI for long term hold, deciding if I want to pull the trigger on that today or gamble that a better entry point will come along.

So if you ate some "white" food, whatever that means, it would be racist as well. Cant win.

Like someone pointed out, probably 5 people there were offended and they were prolly not black.

It’s tough to pass on some of these yields. I actually finding myself a little bummed when the stock prices rise too fast on some of these before I can get more bought up at these prices. Obviously I want them to go up and be healthy so they can increase payouts, but I’d like more money invested first. :D

This is Target for me. I’m up like 60% on it, which is cool. I also bought it while it was yielding about 4%. I want more, but rarely buy it at this price.

man you had stocks on sale for a bit :p

I will probably use VTI but I want to build a model probably in a year or two that compares trying to time the market vs. DCA throughout this whole thing. I read an article a while ago that DCA always comes out on top - always - even through dips and spikes, at least long term. If you say you're going to drop in 100$/month, if you do it on the 7th of every month for example, that will protect your investment. Better if you can do it 1/week or even 1/day?? Don't know - I haven't started DCA yet. But it would be a fun model to put together (....I have a degree in statistics, I find this boring crap fun.....I know, I'm weird).
