Installed L2S and Yakima rack

Hey guys, so I was looking for a way to install my Yakima rack on the bed instead of the roof. After much searching on the forum, I found out L2S made brackets that attaches to the bed cleats and can either hold Yakima or Thule crossbars. Install was super easy and I'm really happy with it! Anyways, onto the pics!


The brackets come in a really nice and durable low-gloss powdercoat finish.



Brackets install onto the cleats using nuts and bolts with simple tools.





Here I have attached the Yakima crossbars.



Then my ski/snowboard rack.



Sturdy, safe, and ready for the mountain this winter!

yes, that's a killer setup. easy on easy off.

...ummm. speaking of easy off....cant someone just unscrew and loosen the cleats and slide the whole set up off? is there a way to lock it down?

 

Yeah, I'm thinking if you want more security on this set-up, you can use a braided cable with padlock and attach it from the cleat to your tie-down?

There's only one option for brackets that fit the Tacoma bed cleats.

That is exactly what I need!!! awsome! What size/length bars do you use? bc I have a Yakima rack that I used for my 02 tacoma, and was wondering If those bars would work?

Oh and before anyone says anything.... I really dont want or like the rack on the roof, bc its kind of a pain, especially when I do my lift.....

 

You'll need the 58" cross bars. I originally had the 48" bars and they were too short.

Instead of buying new cross bars you can do what I just did, go to home depot and get a 10' section of 3/4" galvanized pipe from the plumbing section, have them cut it in half, and get 4 end caps. I painted mine up and they are the exact same size as the original yakimas (I also had 48" since the rack came off a camry I had)

Brow, excellent idea! As long as the bars are 1 1/8" outside diameter, they will fit through these brackets!

 

right, that's the ticket. that is how I secure my Kayaks on road trips. Its a damn sight better than not locked at all. Now i just have to install some front tie downs, and get some L2S's . and keep thinkin positive for some snow!
