Nitto Ridge Grapplers. I've given it a solid college try with no luck at all. It doesn't even come close to fitting. Next step is a hammer.

    Gotcha.
Check the tire specs vs the coopers, I’m pretty sure those are as big as the km3.
The coopers just fit with no real room to spare.

It’s not a big deal to relocate the spare hanger back about an inch. I THINK that might get you enough room.
I was going to do it but realized it wasn’t necessary.

Not sure if I’ll get this size again but if I do I’d probably try the km3.

How does the offset compare to stock OR wheels?

I'm not sure on the figures for 16" steel wheels (spares), I do know that FJ 17" steels have better specs.
Here's the OEM TRD OR 3rd gen wheel spec:
    TRD Off-Road Wheel - 3rd Gen
    Part# 42611-04160
    Dimensions: 16x7 +25

Backspace isn't mentioned, so we have to assume 4.5" since that's most popular between most Toyota wheels.
I've got some spare steels at home I could attempt to get measurements for. One came off my 2nd gen, the other off a 3rd.

Are you implying that the stock wheel specs (16x7 +25 4.5bs) are bad? I think there is some consensus in this thread that they work just fine for 255/85r16 tires.

Nope. You took the one post of mine you replied to, out of context.
Read back one or two posts and the context of the last page or so of the thread. Spare steel wheels are being discussed. There's potential they will fit poorly without larger spacers.

There is consensus that 255s fit fine on 3rd gen OR wheels, with or without skooter sticks. I have the OPs set of tires and wheels on my truck right now, but spacers up front.

Yeah my bad, I steered us off topic. Appreciate all the info.

I sure wish there were more options in the 255/85 size. Come on Falken, gimme some at3w's.

I totally agree with you. Personally I want Nokian Hakkas in 255s

If you are willing to go to 17" rims, the Falkens come in 255/80/17...

Definitely considering 17's to get the falkens!

I read both and it seems like you were saying a) the specs of the steel spare are bad, b) you don't know the specs of the steel spare, and c) you are guessing that the spare has the same specs as the normal OR wheel.

255 Hakkas would be the ultimate snow tire!
I’m slightly concerned how my Coopers will perform in snow:confused: I’ve heard from some they do pretty good but I haven’t heard from anyone who lives somewhere that it snows more than a handful of time per year. Some winters my tires don’t see dry pavement from December-May:cool:
On a side note, I just sold my stock tires for 450$ :bananadance:

Did my first winter on the ST Maxx this year. They did quite well, much better than stock in my opinion. Also they do surprisingly well in heavy rain.

I’ve heard a more than a few times that the Coopers do well in the snow, but most reports have been heavy snow. Up here in MN and the rest of the upper Midwest we get more than just the fluffy stuff. For icy, sleety nonsense and hard pack that stays for 6mo I really prefer a winter tire. The stock Goodyears were an absolute slipshow the first winter I had them. Like wearing sneakers on an ice rink. The Blizzak DM-V2s I have now are much better, but they lack in lateral grip and they’re not a great truck tire beyond the pavement. They’re SL load so I’ve already lost one to a mystery puncture.

267/75/16 Hakka LT3s are up next for me if there isn’t a 255 option available by then. I’d even consider the less-advanced Blizzak W965 flavor just for the higher load rating.

    I can dream

You can stud the ST Maxx as well. Although I know laws vary state to state on that.

I did know this but what i don’t know is how difficult are they to stud/unstud and what’s the typical price to do so? Or is it too big of a PIA to do twice a year?(install and uninstall)

Pretty sure once you stud a tire its permanent, then you just have a separate set of summer tires or tires/rims. I've never heard of anyone taking them out.

Just starting out, give me time
Wait, what so if I have the spare rim with the st maxx's on it it might not actually work on the truck and rub from offset? Has anyone actually tried putting the spare on with the Cooper's? Rubbing??
