Pretty tough to get a job with 250 hours though!

Fair point, but minimum qualifications rarely get you anywhere meaningful in any career field.

Think there's even a video (film) of the incident and a memorial out in the desert.

I have a family connection to the XB-70. My mother worked as an industrial nurse for North American and her eventual commanding officer, Col. Burt Puskas (USAF), worked at North American on the XB-70 project as a flight surgeon. He eventually became my flight surgeon. Col. Puskas was very good friends with Bob Hoover. Wish I had been able to meet Mr. Hoover but the stars never aligned. It is a small world.

North American reached out to Lockheed to solve high heat problems with the Valkyrie during the development. Somehow North American had insight to the Lockheed A-12 program.

Called LAX tower from the ground today, asked if they could accept VFR aircraft for a landing. They said absolutely come on up, just tell SoCal what you want to do. Once I got in the air the second controller just before LAX tower turned me away, they said they were too busy (not LAX, that controller). Sucks, was looking forward to that, maybe I’ll try again soon.

Haven't had very good flying weather so far this summer. Lots of wind, and this last week, a lot of rain. Broke today though. A little on the cool side. And humid. Got some carb icing taxiing out. Put her on the step with carb heat hot just to err on the side of caution. Lovely little flight to the north, but man, the sky's are crazy quiet without the lodge traffic. Just a few of us rec fliers and minnow trappers buzzing around. Anyways, went to a lake called Wonderland. Not sure where the name comes from? I mean, other than the lush green forest, pink granite cliffs, and crystal clear trout waters, it doesn't seem to have a lot going for it.

I’ve just recently started watching Patey’s videos, I really enjoy them, especially from the design aspect.

Left my house at 03:20 today and got into Hays, Ks about 45 minutes ago, will be attending a rudder building workshop at Rans tomorrow, should be lots of fun.

We got to spend most of the day at Rans, went to lunch with Randy and Michele, and attended the rudder building class.
We had lots of fun, ordered an S-21 kit, and learned a lot.

I’m really excited about it! It’s dads plane so he decided on a tail wheel option, he’s still undecided on what engine, he was heavily looking at the Viking 130 option but he talked to Randy about it and in Randy’s experience Viking doesn’t have the same level of craftsmanship as Rotax or or Titan.

I’m not even a licensed pilot yet so I’ve got some time before I start flying. If I’m ever in a position to buy a kit or plane I would like an S-21 in the trike configuration.
