I really don’t have any expectations for MPG. I know I won’t get anything astronomical but I think going to a 2.8 would help a little. So if I get a 2.8 I would have to get my truck retuned? And I have a spare 70.2 inch belt (K080702HD), could I use that one with a 2.8? Thank you

To address belt sizing: there is nothing wrong with running a larger belt on a smaller pulley like 70.5 for a 2.8 or in this case a 70.2 for a 2.5 AS LONG AS THERE IS NO BELT SLIPPAGE.

I know wrap mods were popular on our trucks, but the fact of the reality is that if you are using a Roush tensioner you already have double the dynamic and static tension on the belt that you need compared to the OE tensioner spring tension pressure. That puts all of us running it at an immediate advantange and allows more room to run the various length belt sizes available that don't have to be perfect size while still negating slippage for the most part.

Should you run the right length belt? Well... *Nods head crazily* yes... BUT if you have the Roush tensioner, you have the available room to play around and boost on without experiencing slippage in a way that we used to with the OE tensioner.

As this thread continuously evolves due to new findings and the more logged miles members put on their mods I can confidently say that the belt sizing game has changed as long and only if your proper tensioner mod is in place.

@FL_05Taco if you have a 70.2 sized belt I would be more inclined to say you are running a 2.6-2.7 pulley.

Boost, armor, lights, big tires, no savings.
Also keep in mind that the supercharger builds boost based on load. You can bring it to red line and stay in vacuum. Therefore it is how you work the throttle and gear choice that will effect mileage the most. Plus you probably have other supporting mods that are changing your mileage. Unless you go really small on the pulley you can avoid boost in most scenario, but have the passing power when needed. So you may want to focus your efforts elsewhere. I assume you have gauges already and upgrade fuel pump with external filter?
The boost addict in me just can't bear the thought of reducing performance. Just my two pennies.

Ok that makes sense. Is the tensioner towards the bottom of the engine? I would like to check so see if I have an upgraded pulley. I also just measured it and it is 2.75. Would that mean it is a 2.7?99FECEE1-F7B2-4DFD-941E-9E28E9AB17C8.jpg(Sorry it is upside down. I don’t know how to change it on my phone)

That's not a 2.7. Pulley sizes are based upon the internal rib diameter. Not the outside diameter of a pulley. It's a 2.5.

Looks like the user had a wrap mod on there at one point too. any chance you know the previous owner? They def played in this thread plenty. Also 2.5 vs 2.8 not a bad to try it out. May not be a big MPG difference. If we know whos truck it is we would know the history most likely.

If you do decide to go from the 2.5 to the 2.8 you should have it tuned again but the nice is you can assume you probably hav an upgrade fuel pump. if its an auto maybe you have valve body job.

It's official. The Rutheniums have brought me up to a stable and consistent 245 miles per tank before the light comes on. That brings me up to 14.08 MPG up from a horrible 12.37 MPG. I feel much better about arriving to the gas station now.

    I am so happy!

Just curious what is a wrap mod? I also do have the owners number and can contact him.

I just want to make sure. To tune it I would need to buy the HPTuners OBD2 tuner so JustDSM can tune it?

If you are running a Roush tensioner on there then there is zero point in investing time answering questions regarding pulley wrap mods.

Check that first and get back to us. If you have it, don't worry about it.

I ordered a front 4.10 carrier from eBay. Had trouble finding a decent deal on a rear one and just now did a thing.

Nice, but @snowsk8air2 found that ecgs does sell 4.30 fronts and rear So you may want to return those.

Page 1 will have all the info but like @12TRDTacoma said if you have the rousch then no need. You can see the bar running across under your pulley. Looks like it was there (ie: wrap adds another pulley)

I want 4.10 because it puts gearing on 33" tires just about even with gearing on the stock 265/65/17 tires.
