Best battery

For sure, I hope it keeps working well for you. We had some consistency issues with a number of them at work over the last 5 or 6 years so I use odessy or Northstar these days.

 

Sears doesn’t even have the rights to the diehard brand anymore, Advance Auto now does and is transitioning over to diehard from autocraft.

 

Yep I’ve yet to witness a good optima within the past few years and have warrantied out more then I could count so I doubt it’s been fully worked out yet.

 

I retired out of the parts business a year ago so I'm sort of out of the loop. People stopped buying them and I actually drove some customers away because of the quality so it's good to know things have not changed much. I had a Optima in the race car for years in the early 00's and it was great. You could really smoke it in between rounds and it took all you could give it on a charge. I threw in the towel on racing and just fabricate now. Thanks for the info Sir. I appreciate it.

Yeah I’ve noticed a huge drop in purchases for optimas and I try to turn customers to standard AGM’s if they’re wanting an agm specific or looking at optimas too. It definitely hasn’t changed but I fully agree with you that they used to be top dogs, I’ve seen them last 12 15 and one that was 18 years old but not anymore unfortunately.

Wow I didn't know that but it figures they sold out Craftsman tools to Lowe's and who ever else wanted to sell it. That was actually pretty stupid of them to sell all these brand names that people went to Sears for to keep the doors open. Now competition sells their brands and they just circle the drain.

 

Yep, they are doing it to stay afloat but in turn is just cementing their demise lol. I’m sure there’s some head honcho that is doing it to just maintain wallet thickness tho.

 

That's probably true I considered that angle as well.
Shame to see a long standing company die a slow death like that. Man they sold everything at one time, you could even order a complete house.

 

Not true! After my rig is shut down, the battery reads 13.1 volts. An hour later it settles at 13 volts. 12.85 is 100% full on an AGM.

My 2020 puts out 13.85 at idle. That's more than enough to fully charge an AGM battery.

This TW myth is not true.

 

It’s about the charging voltage for AGM which needs to be 14.6-14.8V which the Taco can’t do. At best you should get 80-85% capacity with the Taco if you want to use an AGM.
