There was 2X miles on it I believe but I have no idea where someone would of even took it off road anywhere near where I'm located. I don't think many of these even get sold around here because there was only 2 or 3 I could even find at dealers I'd drive out to. All 4 tires are dated Nov '19 I believe (4819).

Every road around here seems to be under construction and on top of that where I work it gets covered in dust all day sitting in the lot outside my office. I don't think all that tire shine crap they throw on there helped with the dust situation either.

What's your manufacture date? My AG Pro was in Feb. and the tire date is 0120.

    4819 = December 2019. Easily expected on a 2020.

Another scenario is that this happened when they were taking it off the truck. It may have been covered up with tire shine when you took delivery and didn't see it until dust took over.

I have 20,000 on these been mostly highway but some big chunk gravel, pasture, dirt. That's not even normal or ok for 100 miles. Like I said, take a stroll around the dealers lot you may see more like yours. It very well could of been transport damage. Your dealer is worthless if they won't help.

Did you operate it in 4X4 on pavement? If you did you force the inside wheel on the side you are turning into to spin on the ground. This is why you only operate 4X4 in loose surfaces

I also bet a bad test driver spun it out on pavement or gravel while trying 4wd before you drove it. Those chunks were from a spinning tire.

Based on the miles and I am assuming you haven’t done any out of the ordinary driving. The damage on the tire may have occurred when your Tacoma was delivered to the dealership via a transport truck. Either when your truck was being loaded or off loaded from the trailer, the tire may have caught on the metal rails causing that damage.

I worked at a car dealership in the past and I saw a Ford raptor with KO2s that had shredded a sidewall (only 1 just as your case) as it was being offloaded. In that case with the raptor, the tire had to be replaced by the dealer due to the damage. Hope this helps, just my best guess though.

Looks like they scraped the tires up while loading and unloading it from the Transport Truck.

I think it's one of three things or a combination of all three.
Tire pressure low and bad toe in alignment.
Tire mold had a contamination and reacted with the material as it was sprayed into the mold.
    Heat and abrasive road surface.

I've seen chewing like this on tires that rub against something, but the tire actually appears to be bubbling within the tire sidewall seams as well.

meh looks like seams from the mold. You can see a few of them down the tire and a similar one at the bottom.

That's the type of damage you get from rock crawling. Crazy that it would happen just driving on the road for 100 miles.

BOTH front tires? He says in post #1 that it is both tires, just the drivers side is the worst. My guess is a previous test drive/driver in 4WD. Obviously in reverse, so backing out of a parking space on dry pavement.

Actually, my first guess is still that these were swapped from another truck. OP says he bought this one with 20 some miles and there is nowhere close enough to have done any off roading.

Great time to get 265/75/16 Duratracs. The Goodyear tire, Toyota should have put on a Pro & Off Road!
