Ignore the shitshow of weeds. I'm calling it part of the ecosystem... (Sounds better than I'm lazy). Got me a decent snack for lunch today and already ate the strawberries. Watermelons front left, and some carrots front right. Tomatoes in raised bed intermingled with strawberries, a zuchinni, sage, lavender, and some onions that started growing before I could eat them.

I always use last years first cut hay, it’s cheap and clean enough. I’ll spread cow and donkeys manure in the garden plot and rototill it in couple week’s after a good rain I also throw a shovel full of composted cow/donkey manure under the plants before I plant, feeds them all year.

We sold the house, so we didn’t plant anything here. Put in some tomatoes, sweet and jalapeños at the inlaws for us. I’ll try to get some beans in the ground at the new place if we get moved in in time.

Just heard that it’s good for some vegetables and not so good for others it has its pros and cons but ideally I’d like it that retains the moisture

We just used some pinestraw that we had leftover from flower beds. Doing a pretty solid job for moisture retention so far. Well it's also rained nearly everyday for the past 2 months too so it could be that too...

Still no rain here...I'm watering every evening and by the next evening the dirt's just like talcum powder again. Crazy, for June.

    Green Mulch, that's all.

FINALLY getting some rain. Started around 5pm last night, and has been raining steadily since then. Nice soft steady stuff too, no torrential downpours that just wash off rather than soaking in.
