These cars with just a few compliments were visually stunning. Sometimes the minimalist approach
    yields the sweetest rewards.

Sounds mean. How's the interior resonance with those?

I would have to second that. It's nice to have that muscle car rumble and yes it sure sounds good. Until you want to take
a ride in the country or with family members and cannot hear your self talk. On the Monte Carlo I had flow masters that
ended right before the rear end with turn down tips. At cruising speeds the resonance inside was really bad and giving me
a headache. So I opted for extending the duals out to the back bumper. Took care of about 80% of it.

My Firebird had Flowmaster 40-series mufflers and behind-the-axle exhaust the first year after putting in the 428. We took it on a Power Tour and had to yell to talk at speed. I swapped in Flowmaster Delta Flow 50s after that and it was much better. I'm getting rid of the headers this time around and switching to modified long branch manifolds. Those, plus some good sound insulation will make the car very livable on long trips.

Yes yes and yes Sound deadening materials can really help here. These insulation materials
really help cut down the interior noise and keep the sound outside where the cops live.
A must if you have a nice stereo in your muscle car. I wish I had put that stuff in my Montes Interior
during the rebuild. under the carpet and in the trunk

Yeah, that's why I like the dual shotguns out the back on the '69, also. It's just running some cheap 'parts store' mufflers, but they sound pretty good with headers up front and 6 feet of pipe behind them. There's a set of Flowmaster 50's in my future, but I'm a cheap bastard so I'll probably keep these until they develop a hole, lol.

I have 40 Series Flowmasters on my car too but also have a catalytic X Pipe so the sound is quite nice.

There's interior resonance but doesn't bother me

Some people it does not bother them. Windows down or up. if your used to driving a
vehicle that creates low levels of sound inside then this would be harsh. But the grin
when you stab the go pedal and row through the gears all you hear is pleasure !

This is a nice untouched example of Patina in action. Most likely a daily driver. Late 50's Ford F 100
The damn things will run forever. So simple to work on.

Zim, It's unreal how many pristine cars are in this collection. Absolutely nothing is
substandard. Every car has a story and every detail of what these guys did early
on in racing history is explained. And the drivers back then had no fear at all.
Check this out, from the drivers seat perspective on this early front engine dragster.
You kind of get the idea why the rear engine versions were miles ahead.
You had smoking hot slicks mere inches from your face, Your ass was on top of the rear end,
and both legs straddled the drive shaft and bell housing. If anything went wrong on the engine
it was all coming right at you. And you no longer can see. Fun Huh !
