16-17 were 04b10/12 and have had updates to 04b13 and 04b14

18-19 added TSS so had a new one plus a TSB

2020 has another one because why not

There’s really 2 sets of files. The p5f files are currently available

P5F files are ready to go tunes to flash

VF files are the ones you can edit and customize yourself (shift points, throttle response, alternator output, etc)

You shouldn’t have to worry about it. It took 2 years for the first TSBs to come out and the second one just came out over 3 years later.

Thanks for the info, that’s really helpful. I’m going to do a step by step guide for the layman when I do this to my truck so it isn’t so confusing for noobs like myself.

last question for now, when you say “they” you mean OV and not Tactrix, right? And the REG file is something I get from OV?

The AT's have a ton of ECU versions too, it's not exclusive to the MT's

The reg file you get from OV after sending in your system ID. It’s essentially your software license

by they he meant the software (VF / FM / TS). As in you can use the tuning application with the tactrix adapter to connect and read your ecu ID.

There is an old video from OVT that shows most of it. Flashing with vF is quite similar.

Also, there is a different thread here that attempted to do this. I will try to link it up. There are some positive comments in it.

Appreciate that! The OP actually reached out to me not too long ago but the thread was only a few posts long, it very quickly included the answers to just about all my questions. I watched the thread but haven’t received any updates about it, weird.

Looks like I’ll now be installing Techstream to figure out what ECU version I’m currently running. I may just buy a couple day pass because I did a remote starter install in my brothers Corolla about a year ago and was never able to locate the door trigger wire. I scoured the internet and found the same info repeated over and over but it wasn’t the right info for his car.

If you get a notification but then dont actually go look at that thread, it wont alert you for a while. I’ve had it happen when i get a bunch of notifications and miss one, then i end up behind on a thread. Now I pretty much just look at the watched threads because that’ll always show if there’s updates or not since the last time you looked.

If you don't have OVtune flash kit or VF tuner kit you going to need an OBD reader to get your ECU or you can use Techstream. If your going to use Techstream you'll need a cable. If you plan on getting tuned and you don't have anything just buy what you need from Matt and use the cable he sends to read your ECU and then go from there. My early 2018 ECU is 04A61
Your dealer can update your ECU or you can do it yourself with Techstream or get some one on this forum nearby you to do it for you.

Thanks, I bought the Tactrix cable for flashing the tunes onto my ECU and reading my current ECU version. It was my understanding that this is the suggested cable and that OV does not sell cables anymore.
