No. It's a cover. It's weird to cover the cover. You're protecting the thing who's job it is to protect. Like getting a bodyguard for the security guard.

The PVC cover should be able to take quite a bit of abuse. Maybe not a direct poking stick in a soft spot, but I kinda doubt youll be in that situation.

New cover, for CVT's anyway, are less than $150. FlexSeal tape is under $15 for a 5' roll. I can fix a lot of holes for $15 and when it gets too bad, buy a new cover.

Anyone get a good look at the new GEN 2 Smittybilts. They seem pretty solid on paper.

Just got the tent, upgrades not in the budget atm. Ideally yes, but size is also an issue with hardshells.

taking mine off tomorrow to haul the kayaks. Everytime I think I get the set up I want, there is a huge disadvantage. The biggest lesson learned in the last year. Don't reinvent the wheel. There is a reason others with much more experience do things the way they do. Everytime I do a custom project it leaves me with more headaches than gains.

Thanks all for the chimes with the cover. I wasn't sure about the durability of the PVC cover. I guess I'll roll with it, and grab some flex seal tape and throw in the truck.

Got my awning on and holy shit what a bitch. Having an rtt on and then trying to get your hands between the rtt and the prinsu is not for the weak of heart.

It’s annoying having to open it every time to access the bed. And it’s heavy AF. Having that weight and the tire weight 4’ behind the axle just became too much. The 150lbs of the swing out and tire is pretty much equal to having 500lbs in the bed over the axle.

    This ^
I’m tired of opening it every time I want to access the bed. Especially with a bed rack. Plus you can’t drive with your tailgate down if you had too.
I also find that when I’m driving if I’m on anything other than a smooth road that thing is bouncing away back there.

If I need a swing out I’ll just get a Rigd or Wilco.

Some camping during this Rona Season...
May 22-24 in the Calico area. Did some camping, shooting and off-roading. Good times.

This weekend, Friday night to Saturday morning near Funnel Lake in the Eastern Sierras. We went to camp at Kennedy Meadows area Saturday afternoon to Sunday, but didn’t take pictures.
