So I made it all the way to page 15 in this thread. What was the outcome? If still a mystery, has anyone compared Part numbers of the Radiators between those with Trans Coolers and those without?

Something happened in this thread? I seriously thought it was the run of the mill “I need to tow a massive boat with my tiny tacoma and I have an automatic that is overheating and my truck is completely overweight as it is with armor and I don’t even have the tow package and basically made every incorrect choice there is in truck selection”

But was it determined if it was a assembly mistake or Toyota no longer include a Trans Cooler externally?

With a few people in the same situation, it seems to be a running change to remove it. The lines seem to be there right up to the engine rad, just that the connections are plugged where the AT cooler should go. So, simple mod to get back full OEM capacity.

The dealer and corporate were no help.

And the OP decided to cut his losses and just go aftermarket. "Cut his losses" is probably not the correct phrase. Decided to be smarter than the Toyota engineers is a better phrase.

I wouldn't say that. If they did some improvement then it shouldn't be but if not then you are right. I could understand if they did something different to the cooling of the Trans but if they just decided not to run one and see everything the same that sucks.

Well, there's been no definitive answer from anyone intelligent at Toyota so there are a lot of assumptions right now from forum members. Some of them are very sound. We're still trying to find a logical pattern to try to determine why most models have the cooler and only a few don't.

Just got back from taking the wife out to her favorite restaurant down by PLU for her birthday. An actual sit down and eat at a table restaurant.

That's crazy that Toyota just stopped including the ATF cooler. I'm sure OP will be able to get a better unit aftermarket, but it sucks to have to do that. I'm assuming they stopped sometime with the March builds?

For the record, mine has a date of 2/20 in Baja and it has the cooler.

As usual you can’t rely on hard fast rules when dealing with the automotive industry.
My 2018 Sport has a Transmission (ATF) cooler, I checked. The window sticker does not indicate that it does.

I think they *may* have stopped listing it as a separate line item when the tow package became standard equipment.

So I thought I had an ATF cooler, but I think I mistook the power steering cooler for the it. I have an 03/20 build built in Texas missing the ATF cooler. I'll reach out to my dealer and see what they have to say.

    It has to feel strange.

We haven't done it yet. Every time I think of a restaurant, the growth rate pops in my head.

At least my wife is O-, and she is pretty stoked about that.
