Should I get wheel spacers?

So back in september I made a thread asking how safe wheel spacers are. Long story story short few people replied saying not really, the thread died, and I decided against them. Then a couple of weeks ago someone brought the thread back and a bunch of people said they are perfectly safe to use as long as you get the correct ones and instal them properly. To sum things up the truck specs are as follows....
2010 Access cab 4x4 4cyl manual
it has 1.75" billies on the front and rear spring tsb
265/75/16 duratracs on stock steelies.

I want to add the wheel spacers simply for looks, I have NO rubbing issues at all.

Please vote yes or no if you feel they are safe to use on my DD and if you don't mind just leave a little feedback as to why you say yes or no.

I don't want to add something thats dangerous to my DD and ending up in a wreck or risking anyones safety just because I wanted to make my truck look better. Safety is more important than looks any day.

 

Many members on here have spidertrax wheel spacers. I believe they are the most reliable ones.

If they are properly installed i think they would be safe. Im sure other people will chime in here. Good luck!

I'd say yes... BUT, I have no experience with them other than the fact that I want some because they look good, If I got a set they would be purely aesthetic as well...

 

I have run them on jeeps, fords and now my Taco. I trust them, have wheeled them hard, and put many hwy miles on them, on all vehicles, with no problems ever. just my 2c.

 

So I currently run spidertrax on my tacoma I have 265/70/16 and for whatever reason after my 2.75 lift with my toytec coilovers my right side rubbed the lower control arm the hub and alignment were perfect but they could not figure out why it rubbed. So I decided to buy spidertrax just for the front to widen the stance and get rid of that rubbing. It work and I love my spidertrax I have had no problem and with the wider stance I have better control of the truck. I say go for it man when installing them just use a torque wrench not a impact gun. 80 lbs of torque and your all set

 

I was thinking about getting spidertrax too, because I want to keep the stock rims for now.

Problem I've had in the past (with my Jeep) is that no local tire shops will touch the truck with them. I had to remove them first, pita

 

Pay close attention to wether they are hub-centric or wheel-centric. Makes a difference. My buddy used hub-centric on hs Tundra and the steering shook. It was an expensive experiment. Once they were mounted they would not take them back.

 

Do you have to get an alignment if you install wheel spacers??

 

yup, looks like I need the hubcentric ones.

 

yes if your a second gen you need hub centric and no you do not need to get a alingment after install

 

What about the all pro hub centric spacers?

They are identical and would come out 60 bucks cheaper for all four

 

I too want a set of spacers for my FJ trail teams black wheels. I just want to make sure they are safe. Can you install these yourself???

 

Yes they are safe, just follow instructions precisely. No impact gun, use a torque wrench.

I say do it.

I had spacers on my VW GTI before I got my Taco. I ran them for almost 2 years and never had any issues (different application, but same concept). If you install them correctly and torque them to the proper ft/lb then all should be good. I have heard good things about the spidertrax, and eventually plan on getting them myself.
