    Beautiful colors

    So 4 1/2" to 5" legspan I take it?

    Pretty big for a tarantula in general, especially those not familiar with other species at all

    You woulda been proud:cool: before I read it I just zoomed in and looked at it for a few seconds, wanted to see if it looked like the Brown tarantula I found out in the hills behind my old house in a new development. Sure enough, I was like thats gotta be brown :D:rofl:

    I remember catching them walking across the road when I was a kid. You just walk up behind them and grab their body with your fingers. Nobody was ever bitten by one.

    It's ok if you don't like them, but you strike me as someone that'd leave them alone and let them be. I mean afterall, they help us more than we think.

    Then you got guys like @jbrandt and @Blue92 that want to set fire (or smash) anything spider :rofl:

    Yeah that doesn't surprise me one bit!

    Here's a quick nitty gritty about tarantulas -

    New world tarantulas are those that live in N America, Central, and S America.

    These spiders have mild venom, and rely more on their urticating hairs to ward off predators. Most have more of a flight response than anything else.

    Now your Old world tarantulas, those are the spiders from every other country.

    These have much more potent venom, don't have urticating hairs, and are more often ready to fight, or at the very least, threat pose you letting you know they're going to strike.

    I have one New world, and two Old worlds and I can tell you the Old worlds are stupid fast....faster than your eye can see when they bolt.

    Of course I like them! Just cause I laugh at the guys jokes about en, like the shovel and crap. The one was so tame I was so shocked. It could've been a pet but I doubt it. Small brand new neighborhood. Lotta new construction back then so I'm sure we kicked him outta his home:(we, as in humanity, not me lol

    Ha that's badass, that you like them that is.

    They're really cool to watch especially a communal setup because they actually have social interactions amongst each other; who would've thought, a tarantula right?

    @CS_AR
    @cruiserguy

    Here's just a few pics of threat poses (all on different days) that I've received from 'Mini Me', the tarantula that just molted last night -

    Not even all the pics I have, just some that I had posted here before. Some of these are just by being too close to the enclosure, others because I filled its water dish.

    He's even bigger now, which means so are his fangs :anonymous:

    I'm sure I'd start letting him/her crawl on me. I mean it's not like its gonna all of a sudden turn evil and wanna hurt me, you know? I'm talking one domesticated.... I'd prolly rather not grab a wild one :rofl:maybe if I was triple dared or something :D:laugh:

    Lol yea but that posture, it's a threat pose.

    One time I didn't realize it was doing so but only caught notice cause I heard a "tap" only to find out, it was striking at the enclosure towards my direction

    No you're good I get it.

    But they never get used to being handled, or get used to having an "owner" or anything.

    It can really just come down to their personality, and even then, it's like a crazy ex wife where she can go from happy-go-lucky to swinging a knife at you the next minute.
