I am back! I used to have a TRD Off Road Prerunner, that I sold back in 2012. https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/lift-is-in.89845/#post-1709025

I've been through a few different cars since then, and came full circle and recently picked up a 2014 TRD OR 4x4.
It already has suspension, wheels & tires, but I would like to go a little bit higher, and get bigger wheels/tires for it.

What I need help with is: What would be the easiest and least expensive way to get the lift to 3 inches. I believe it is ~2 inches now.

It has Bilstein shocks, ProComp upper control arms, Toytech springs, and a small spacer on the front.
The rear has a small block...looks like a quarter inch? and Bilstein shocks.

For reference the tires are 265/75/16, and the wheels are 16" and I think the are 8" wide.

Can I just get new springs on the front, and larger block/U bolts on the rear?
Any help here would be greatly appreciated!

Call Toytec and give them number off the coil spring right next to their logo. They can tell which combo is on the front. It looks like their 3” coilover set up but I believe you can also get that some set up at 1.5-1.75 “ for the front too. If the truck is level that’s what’s probably on there but I’d confirm with them. You could switch to their 3” fronts and 2” rear springs and run a 285.

I had this lift on my 2015 and 2011, its indeed a 3'' lift, at least mine was, maybe the coils have settled some, etc. I ran a deaver AAL in the rear on mine and Camburg BJ UCAs. Good luck and that's a great new ride. Congrats!

Thanks! It definitely doesn’t feel like 3” compared to my old truck, and based on the wheel/tire size.

looks like the spring part number is 521600 which suggest 2” but there is a spacer in there as well that is throwing me off. And I can’t tell what setting the shocks are.
And the rear block is so small...

Is there a spring that is recommended to go with these shocks that would give me 3”?

Now I’m finding conflicting info that does say it is 3”.....

maybe the shock is on the bottom setting. is it easy to adjust, or does the whole thing need to come out?

With that coil it should be on the bottom setting. That will yield 2.5-3” of lift. You can put the 1/4” spacer on top of those giving addl 1/2” of lift.

Do you mean a different/larger spacer than what is in there?

what would be affected if I go the next setting on the shocks? Impact the ride, or just be higher than expected?

Toytec sells a 1/4” spacer that can be put on top of the coilover, between the top and the mount. You don’t have to disassemble the coilover it just sit on top. Also if the truck is level those could be 2” springs in the rear.

If you were to get a full 3” of lift after things have settled there’s probably a good chance you will not get the alignment into spec and your ride will suck as the truck will be nearly topped out. Of course they’re all a little different. The safest bet for these trucks is 2.5” up to 2.75” max. Going to a 285 (33”) vs 265 (32”) the truck will sit 1/2” higher too. You’ll likely have to do some clearance work to eliminate rubbing.

It does have a top plate / spacer I'm guessing to achieve the 3'', they are not adjustable, at least mine weren't. I ran 285/70r17 and 285/70r16 on both my trucks with this setup no issues, think maybe the slightest of rub in certain rare situations, but 99.9% of the time no issues.

Thanks everyone! I will do a bit more research on what I have and take it from there.

the truck sits close to level. It had a Decked drawer system when I got it, but I sold it so a little less weight in the back

Gotoman - thanks for the suggestion on the extra spacer. That may be a good option to get a little more height in the front and completely level it out!

thanks again for all the help!!

I've got the same lift sitting in a scrap pile. Check the notches on the front struts and see whats its at. That spacer on the strut is built in, not a traditional spacer. The back is likely just the degree correction shims. Mine came with a 1.5" lift block. Screenshot_20200621-224843_Gallery.jpg

Lol, feel ya, just another friendly reminder for me to keep up that fluid film routine, it was a decent setup when I had it given my E4 budget at the time lol.

Wow! Shocks are set on the lowest notch. Looks like yours were the same.

Do you know how much lift you had from this setup?

Thanks for the help all! I inspected a little further, and it does seem the rear sits slightly higher than the front. It was very close to even when the Decked rear drawers were in.
I am not 100% familiar with what the stock leaf springs look like, but I am pretty sure there is an AAL plus that very small spacer in the rear.

I ordered the TP14 front spacer from Toytec (Thank you gotoman) which will hopefully level things out.
Next I want to go to bigger wheels - I like the look of these, but I personally like bigger :)

If anyone is interested in these - Let me know - 16x8 with 265/75/16 Falken Wildpeak's with a ton of life left. No rubbing
