2018 TRD SPORT Suspension is the worst

I have a 2018 Tacoma TRD Sport - the Hitachi shocks are 100% garbage - If you have a load in the truck - say 4 adults - and you hit a bump the truck will go bouncing down the road and depending on the size of the bump or bridge you go over you will hit the suspension limit. They 100% can't handle any type of rough road - where my past 3 Pathfinders, GMC Sierras, and Honda Ridgeline's could.

The initial hit is stiff - but once you get into the stroke of the shocks they collapse. My 10 year old can collapse the shock completely with 1 hand.. What does Toyota think is going to happen to a truck that weighs over 4K. Yes I know the springs are supposed to keep it from collapsing - but the shocks are supposed to keep the tires in contact with the ground. When you lose contact to the ground - you loose stability, traction, and braking, and so on..

For a vehicle that almost cost 40K - it's sad to say that my 10 year old son's bicycle has better suspension..

    Change it to Bilstein 5100.

I swapped the garbage for 5100, the ride is soooooo much better!

Hopefully that rant makes you feel better

Now on to improving what you have or making a change to a different vehicle

I'm very pleased with my 2018 TRD Sport suspension.
I've put 23,000 miles on it being loaded up (3 grand-kids; 2 adults), just me, bed loaded, poor roads, good roads and off-road and find it to be a very good all-around suspension.

Your sons bicycle has better suspension? Cool.

No issues with my sport suspension. I go wheeling and its my daily driver, i think its quite good.

Its more street oriented, so its on the stiff side. Which makes for quite a nice ride on road. It does not bounce when hitting bumps, it just bounces once and thats it. You sure your shocks are good?

Never once i thought my truck was loosing traction and becoming unstable. Actually this truck feels very planted on the road.

The sport model is intended for more on road use and handles better around curvey roads. There are lots of reasonably priced and great options out there to upgrade the suspension.

Sounds like you blew out your shocks, unless your 4 passengers look like Michael Moore or Rosie O'donnell.

I have almost brand new front and rear sport shocks and front springs from my 2019 I would be happy to sell if anyone is interested. I removed them from my truck at 3k miles or so.

Why do people buy trucks they hate so much? Even if these trucks cost $10k, why would you buy if you hate it. These complaints are either extreme hyperbole or something is seriously wrong with the shocks. Go back to the Ridgeline if you want that minivan ride.

Bought the sport just because I wanted a manual transmission with 4x4 in quicksand. Everything on the truck was going to get swapped out anyway so the model wasn't important.

You obviously need some research on shocks and suspension. Springs are your suspension. Shocks simply control the springs. This article will explain why your son can push down your shocks. https://www.fourwheeler.com/how-to/suspension-brakes/129-1001-off-road-shock-absorbers-101/
FYI, the shock setup on My Trek Fuel EX8 is better than all ya'lls shocks lol.

Butt that's the problem, like jiggly tits in the other thread. This one has a bruised butt.
