Ah, I see. So sounds like I would be covered for my configuration then? And I assume there are some options like base 87, performance 87, 91/93 , etc...

Yessir. The new tunes are octane learning, so there is never a worry about flashing for octane down the road.

I believe the ATs will have Base, Performance, and Tow tunes maybe with tune switching.

    I AM DEAD WRONG BELOW!!!!!!!!!!!

WARNING DO NOT RELY ON THIS BELOW!!!

    WRONG!!
Yes sir, you will. I do believe the TCU files will be included with your VF tune file for your ecu. So I think you get ECU and TCU.

I just got a extra pedal. Lol

That would be amazing. Have you compared your tune to using it in S mode with or without ECT power on? Sorry to blast you guys with questions but it's a lot of money to plunk down.

    Questions are always good.

I'm an MT, so I have no S mode or ECT. Those will still have their individual functions as well as the GearLock tunes for a full manual mode including true redline shifts, not just the upper gear lockout.

It is a chunk of money, but with the MPG bump, mine will pay for itself.

If we purchase before the TCU files are released, will we have access to those retroactively or have to buy something else?

Octane learning means there's no longer any 87/91/93/etc specific tunes and instead something like basic/performance/etc that adapts to the octane you use?

You are going to have to search OVT's posts there. I think he might have said that you have to purchase the TCU unlock? It might come with the Tune Packs. In the end, it might be best to see what is going on there after it releases.

OL is on every tune. They will all adapt to the any octane change, just like the Stock tune does.

Damn looks like patience is the name of the game. After taking some mountain trips recently, I'm so ready to be done with this panzy engine scheme.

I normally cheap out and get the lowest octane. These new tunes can be flashed and left be and if I decide to splurge and get higher octane, I don't have to flash anything else? Compared to older versions with octane-specific setups.

Yeah. These tiny files unlock what the engine is really good for. You will be surprised how good it is.

Now that the development is done (over 2yrs worth), things are moving very fast. The Taco ECU was a hard nut to crack.

I typically use the lowest octane that is needed. Although right now on the latest tunes, the MPG bump is paying for the difference. No need to flash anything. Fill up and go.

When you buy vF Tuner, you get access to your ECU ID and all future release / development / table access is free.
The TCU *file* specifically, for certain tables is a $75 / 4 credit charge because it's a completely separate unit.
but you don't have to tune that TCU file in order to tune things like shift points, torque converter, etc.

I'm going to guess not. It's different architecture unless it's written in a cross-platform language.

No sir I believe it is windows only. Its worth getting a cheap laptop though. It would just be a truck platform.
