I mean, there's always the argument that you should only go where you know you are allowed. One should always know the legal status of the trail they intend to travel. That's all privately owned land down along Otay River.

That's not how that works. If you don't know that you have permission you are trespassing. The poor actions of a small number of people color the opinion of the public. That's how access gets restricted because a few crazy guys in H2s decide to go ripping donuts on the side of a dirt road that had an open gate.

You know whats crazier? Knowing all the while the place was restricted before I went there and not saying anything til after the fact so you can lecture me, and so you can feel better about yourself. Theres no use telling me after the fact, is there? Considering you commented earlier and saw the pics of the invite. You surely know “how it works”.
Thanks but no thanks. Sorry Not Sorry

I'm posting after the fact in the hope that I can educate you. I figured you would be going to the truck trail, which is a public road on public land just 15 minutes farther away, not to chill under a bridge like a kid in high school. If you want to stay ignorant and are fine with that, do your thing, I won't lose sleep over it.

Haven't figured out the dynamic around San Diego but suburban cops in TX, LA and PA love ticketing and impounding the trucks of people wheeling where they shouldn't. Slam dunk ticket, might even get a DUI to meet the quota.

You should lose some sleep because that was a dick move only so you can feel better about yourself.

Taking a quick pic is “chilling”? Get a fucking life

Aaaanyway. Finally got some sliders on the truck and I've got a Bilstein kit + ARB plates on the way. Looking forward to meeting up with some SD guys in the near future once everything is on. I'm very familiar with Otay Mountain trails out to Route 94, VOTM and a little bit of Pine Valley. The truck in stock form does very well but I realized early on that some under armor was needed.

I'm also looking for some help with installing the goodies once they've all arrived for copious amounts of beer and pizza. Feel free to PM me or hit me up on IG: wall_brah

Bought the Guide to California Backroads book and tried out the Los Pinos Mountain Loop. Going clockwise, I made it almost all the way through the "hard part" when a side-by-side who was traveling in front of me turned around and was coming back. He said it was getting more rough as the trail progressed. Just so happened that the stock 2020 OR was hitting a support tube at the crest of a hill preventing me from going further.

For my maiden voyage, I thought it best to flip around there. No pin stripes, so the day was a partial success. Tons of fun and cant wait to do it again.

I paid the dealer to replace it. This is the only repair performed on a 13 year old truck so I can't be to angry.

I'm glad that I could help. Be sure to post up photos after you hit the trails.

Yes, it happens here too. Or the open gate happens to lead onto private property.

I don't think anyone realized it was their responsibility to make sure you follow up on your local regulations. Noted for future reference.
