Im also working on mine. Ran out of speaker wire so had to settle with just fronts for now. I will probably be running wire from my amp under the driver seat, under the carpet to the back storage boxes (planning on putting my crossovers in there). From the crossovers I'm going to run the wire into the door. Love your sub box. Build yourself? Ported or sealed?

Here are some pics of what i have going so far. The mdf will be acrylic since the test fit worked out...20200815_153621_HDR.jpg 20200815_190148.jpg 20200815_153633.jpg 20200815_190112.jpg 20200816_115049.jpg 20200816_115105.jpg

Update: made my final speaker mounts for the front. A member told me to try pvc board instead of acrylic. Not as nice but far cheaper.20200819_201232_HDR.jpg 20200819_210055.jpg

2005 with the cheap OEM speaker. Notice the wires follow into the door...then through the door boot....to connector..then under door sill.

OP, are you going to "vent" the door cover for the speakers?

You'd leave the driver's behind the door skin?

Thanks for the link. I'm going to try to copy the design but go with more height and make it front firing.
There is another thread on here where a member by the name of bass-mechanic builds a panel to go over the door skin. I'm going with his method but I'm going to add metal mesh behind the speaker grill cloth for more protection.Screenshot_20200821-191744.jpg Screenshot_20200821-191753.jpg

I have mine formed to the door. 1/8 inch ABS plastic. Its going to take me a while to design it the way I want but if it works out I'll upload some pictures. For now I have my speakers mounted in the back door, behind the skin, with the fader set way forward. The kicker speakers sound terrible in comparison to the focals though. If I could do it again I would have bought the next tier of focal speakers in a 3 way system and not even bothered with rears...

    Here are some pics:

So I’m at a really good stopping point for my system, Hertz X 690 6"x9" 4-way Speakers in the front doors, hertz dt24 tweeters and in the back doors hertz k165 in the back doors powered by a 1800w ds18 4 channel amp and the sub is a kicker comp r 12 powered by a Rockford fosgate 500w mono block. And the head unit is a pioneer dmh-2660nex.

    My shit is all stock.
    Hi

I’ve just recently revamped the audio on my 07 AC as well. I actually eliminated the rear speakers completely and sealed the openings (as well as covered the outer skins) with Dynamat. My thinking on that is that I’m trying to focus on imaging in the front. Don’t want signals from the rear complicating that. Plenty of sound happening in the front doors. I don’t miss the rears at all. That being said; I’d love to find a set of rear door trim panels that do not have the speaker openings in gray. If anyone has some, please let me know.

I’ve initially gone to a 6.5 mid bass low in the door and a 3.5 coax in the stock upper door position. After having played with adjustments by ear, fiddling with crossover points and slopes along with timings; I’m fairly happy with it. (What I really need as an RTA and some proper analyzing software)

I will be making a big change as soon as I can find an appropriate 2.5-3” coax to use in some custom pods up high either on the inner mirror garnishes or A-pillar. The only speaker I’ve found that looks the part so far is the Illusion Audio C3CX. Which is ludicrously expensive and I’m not too crazy about what I’ve been able to learn about that brand in general. The stock upper speaker positions are not conducive to what I am trying to do.

Here’s a very nice example (found via google images) of what someone has done with the Illusion C3CX that gives me the horn:

Obligatory system rundown and a few install pics.

Still running my pre-existing Pioneer AVH W4400 HU. Mucho audio controls and wireless CarPlay. Paired with the Maestro RR interface which is the shizzle. Was initially going to run it in Network mode. But, pioneer won’t let me cross over the “high” channels and lower than 1200hz. Damn it. I need like 300-500hz. Which led me to the amp I chose...

JL VX700/5i under the passenger seat. This thing is pretty amazing. Especially for how tiny it is. The Tün software is pretty easy to use as well. Get the Bluetooth adapter. Trust me.

JL C3-650cw mid bass in the front doors mounted to Audio Designs speaker adapters.

JL C2-350x are up high in the front doors (for now) I did have to cut the shell to make room for the magnets. I also opened up the OE speaker brackets to accept these pretty much to the extreme.

JL SB-T-TACAC Stealthbox in the center console. Very impressed with this thing. All the bass any reasonable listener needs and practically invisible.

Dynamat Superlight on all outer door skins and Extreme on all of the inner door shell surfaces. All unnecessary holes sealed. I used the remainder of the Extreme on the trans tunnel and inner door trim panels. I was really amazed at how big of a difference just all the sound deadening made in the truck. And I haven’t even gotten to the roof and rear areas yet.

Now that I think of it. Would anyone be interested in trading door panels? Mine are in decent shape. Minor scuffing from random cargo. No broken tabs already anything like that.
