At this point it's like a new season anyway so you're right. This could be a new normal, just have basically a playoff right from the get-go ... we could even have 2 or possibly 3 SC winners every year. Pretty sure even Vancouver could eventually win one.

Mathews confirmed he has it. So does 10 other players between Florida in AZ. Only rumors who those 10 are. One of Toronto’s goalies was a roommate of Mathews at the time and he tested negative.

league is suppose to announce the two hub cities this week. The plan to move forward this week or next. Then the prayers have to approve it. Going to be a tough sell, but the NBA is doing good being locked down in one spot, so that might help.

 

My money is on Vegas for the US, not sure the state of Canada so now guess on which one they pick.

CA is still pretty locked down and the unions get in they way of everything, so LA is a long shot.

Rumor is the FULL NHLPA will be voting this weekend on retuning to play.

 

I heard there will be an agreement to give it back as long as they name them the Seattle Chaz. They are working out new multi color uniforms.

I just can't get into the Draft, and I still am not convinced that we will actually have a Stanley Cup playoff either. This COVID 19 pandemic has screwed things up so bad. If it continues to worsen, I can't see them being able to play. After the 2004-05 Strike it took years for the league to recover. This is even worse, I am so disheartened...

 

Eh. I love me some hockey, but people are more important to me.

 

There are a lot of teams in that group of 24 that don't have a chance in hell to make it past the play-ins yet enough make it all the way to winning the cup. You have a 1 in 8 chance to get a NHL ready top prospect for next year after this clusterf*k of a post season I can see many going for it. That is if the post season even happens. Like @Interbeing posted with the practice just starting and positive cases already happening I can pretty much guess team E will be the winner.

There has been only one team in history to make it from the bottom of the pack to win the Stanley Cup. I don't see that happening again anytime soon.

 

Last year all division winners were out after round 1. President's Trophy winners got swept. Stanley Cup winner was in last place overall on New Years's Day.

 

Yep, gives me hope for the Habs, like their last cup run with Roy. I’m not sure if Carey can “Carey” the team like Roy did though. “Hope springs eternal”

 

TSN is reporting Toronto and Edmonton as the two hub cities.

 

Not surprised, especially as Edmonton has a very low COVID 19 infection rate. It would be easier to keep the players isolated, however, there are lots of things to go wrong, I’m not convinced this plan will work. At this point I would rather have the season scrapped and start planning for next year when things start to calm down.

 

Also saw that included in today's negotiations for the new CBA was discussion of individual opt-outs for this season's return to play.
