    I have mods
Already done, all online without even talking to someone. Hopefully the replacement isn't stolen as well. If I didn't have so much shit to get done at work, I'd stay home on the delivery day and try to catch the fucker in the act again.

I did and it went pretty smooth. I’ve had no issue with mine so far. Did new brake lines too. Brake pedal will feel a little squishy”er” per say but i know it will stop
    When I want it too.

sweet. I'm so tired of having to stand on the pedal just to potentially stop before rearending someone or worse lol. Heatsoak takes whatever stopping power I had before and throws it out the window lol

Gotta be those brake lines like you said... I'm still on the stock Tacoma pads/rotors with a bunch or armor weight, 33s, tent, etc and haven't noticed any problem with braking.. And I daily my truck.
I have stainless steel brake lines though, ditched the stock lines awhile ago. Also make sure your fluid brake fluid isn't super dark and old.

A rear brake adjustment will do miracles for stopping power/pedal feel. The less those shoes have to move to contact the drum translates to less pedal travel.

A good set of stock size ceramic pads and rotors is more than plenty to safely stop a 1st gen, provided the lines/master cylinder aren't trash, and the fluid is maintained accordingly.

    I have mods
Same here. Stainless lines all around, new stock replacement front rotors with ceramic pads, new rear brake shoes and even fully loaded with the tent and all the other crap I carry for wheeling, it still stops pretty damn good. Fresh fluid and making sure the BPV is adjusted properly depending on your lift makes a world of difference.
