Over the past 4 weeks or so my truck has been acting funny. I forgot to tighten my gas cap after pumping gas during a 7 hour drive. I noticed the next morning my engine and TRAC light was on so I got out and tighten my gas cap. The lights continued to stay on. I went to the gas station and put in 20 bucks and when I tried to start the truck it seem like the engine was struggling to start so I wait about 3 minutes and started the truck and she fires right up. Truck runs fine. Then two days later I stop for gas and the same thing happens it struggles to start when I put gas in the tank. This has happened 3 times in 3 weeks and the lights engine and Trac stay on. I even disconnected the battery and the trac and engine stay off for a little while but then came back on. I am thinking fuel filter. Any ideas

Stuck vent/ purge valve? Pull the codes, it'll lead you in the right direction

Most parts shops (Autozone, O'Rielly's, NAPA, Advance Auto) will run codes for free. Pull the codes then start diagnosis.

Purge Valve can be a cause for difficulties in starting after refueling.

Try this .... Run the truck and get it good and hot. Shut it off and wait 5 min and see if it still does it ?? Might be related to hot starting and not the gas or the cap .... More info please. Year, Model, Engine, etc...

And stop trying to get all the gas in the mid east into the tank, pumping until gas is rolling down the overflow, or rounding out the cash total to a even amount. You're killing your evap system.

Initially I thought it could be vent too, but if the vent is stuck open and the purge is shut, the engine won't care. So yeah, only purge, u right.

I have drove the truck 20 or 30 miles and no problem starting up. The engine struggles to start only when I put gas in it other than that it is fine. My truck is a 17OR v6 4x4. I will try to get the codes

Try Running the tank to 1/2 or less and only fill to 3/4. And CHANGE Gas stations and pumps. Wondering if the dispensing Pump or Evap system (on your truck) is sucking in Gas and loading up the Evap/Emission system causing flooding on next start... ?? Just a guess ...

Until he pulls the codes, it's a guessing game.

Toyota made it easy to trouble shoot. They put a OBD2 connection in the truck!

This....this isn’t the old days where you can just go hitting shit with a screw driver to track down a problem, it’s 2020 everything is ran by computers hence PULL THE CODES, no body here is going to be able to give you any solid advice without that. Otherwise wise your just waving a stick in dark.

My brother from another mother! Have you been reading my post? LMAO. I was going to use the "It's the CPS sensor" reply, but that's getting old around here.

Don't waste time pulling codes. Start with replacing engine then go from there...
