2wd Suggestions

I recently bought a 2019 Tacoma SR5 2wd for dirt cheap, compared to other 2019 SR5s with 2wd at least. I am on a budget, but I did go ahead and put in the OEM Audio+ speaker system because I know I will pretty much always be listening to music. I also plan to put a TRD Pro Grill on within the coming weeks. This being my first truck, I was looking for suggestions from other 2wd owners, or really anyone, on what other mods should be done.

In my case, I am pretty much just hauling around my bike, supplies for projects, and towing every once in a while. So I am looking for stuff that really anyone should have.

Edited the post to make it more accurate. For me, my truck is going to be an urban cruiser most of the time but I will be hauling around plenty of bikes and supplies for projects. I'm not planning on going anywhere where I could get stuck but if I do, I have plenty of friends with 4wd that could help me out.

I’d say get a tailgate pad for your bikes. The new Race Face Pad has been received well by some members in a recent thread (I have the small Dakine and it’s decent). A lot of people swear by the OEM rubber bed mat too so your stuff doesn’t slide around.

There are sometimes issues with the sensor relocation when you put on a new grille, even an OEM one, so peruse the threads to make sure you know what you are getting into.

Two options here, full blown long travel, or full blown boosted street truck. Really what else are going to do with a 2wd.

 

Meso Customs total tail light kit, cause stock rear light output and layout is stupid.

 

I have added a few things to my SR5 2WD. You don't have to spend a ton to improve the SR5 a bit. I added Bilstien 5100's with a 1" lift (makes It fell like a truck not a squishy car) with Falken WP 265/75/16 in C load (lighter tire) better MPG. I like the OEM wheels so I kept them. Added matching 265/75/16 spare. Also added a Front Runner Load Bar rack with FR support brackets and a Tepui Tent. Its my daily driver so the tent is only on for camping weekends (easy on easy off - 130#'s). It gets me around the Seirra/desert dirt/forest roads all I want and still average over 20 MPG's. Driving on real 4x4 Jeep trails, I would not recommend that. I also did the AC condensation drain line extension mod, LED interior bulbs, plasti-dip chrome bumper and chrome Toyota wheel emblems (about 1 year and holding up well). Added the rear skid...the cheap OEM one that comes on the upper TRD models (it doesn't come on the SR5, but you can find it on CL for about 20$)...its better than nothing and I'm not really wheeling. I bought new black Tacoma badges, center console storage tray (Amazon), tinted windows, amber fog light skins (matches our DRL lights, looks good) removed air dam, added 3rd back bed rail not on stock 3rd gens, OEM bed mat is heavy, but a must if hauling stuff (wait for the yearly Toyota dealer sale got mine for $74). Have fun, take your time deciding what to add.

 

This was my first Tacoma. 2013 2wd V6 pre runner access cab 6ft bed. I REALLY liked that truck. It had all the add ons I needed: nerf bars, vents, weather tech mats, tonneau cover, bigger tires, tint etc .

 

I'm curious as to what you paid. Was it new? What is "dirt cheap"? I worked pretty hard to get a deal on mine so if you don't mind sharing that would be cool.
