I'm shocked it wasn't busy! My wife ended up shuttling me on a DV/PC ride (Payroll to Silver Queen to RedBull). I saw two dudes on the trail and two sitting at the yurt. It was eerily empty!

Sounds like you just need to put on some weight!

I spin out on the low end, hitting the gym wouldn't help in this case.

    not enough.
yeah true. The only thing I can think is, "once i'm through with this, it's all fun from here...and there's the spine".

Honestly, so am I. It was nice not having to worry about other people. rode past a small group at the very start, passed a family of 4, helped out a badass slightly older couple right after the spine get some first-aid after he crashed and gashed open his leg, and got passed by 2 dudes right before the final drop before the millcreek/canyon split. temperature and weather was amazing too.

dude, dv/pc shuttles are always good. redbull is awesome. my only gripe is, someone needs to put a sign up for a trail x-ing with jenni's so that clueless folks don't just blow through the intersection and hurt someone. I haven't run payroll or silver queen yet but will probably do taht sometime soon. knowing me. haha.

This is pretty spot on. I'd maybe add San Juan as it is an iconic OC trail. I would NOT go too far from the coast or mountains as it could be hot in the desserts and inland valleys (100+) which is a bad idea if you are not familiar with the area.

Tony is a Taco guy and has a bunch of OC rides on his UToob:

That's the exact setup I'll have, just waiting on the 1up to get here. Since the mounting hardware can pretty much slide to anywhere on the rack itself I'm pretty sure you can position it however you want over the bed. I'll post some pictures next week after I get it all set up.

It doesn't seem like redbull gets ridden enough to cause problems, but I'm sure that one time it does it'll be bad. You hardly have any idea what's going on around you on redbull, it's just so damn steep and loose and rooty! I spend the whole time thinking get your ass back more! I love it.

Silver Queen is good, but I prefer Mojave if I'm dropping from the Yurt.

Might have to extend the planned 4-day trip and make it more like 4 weeks haha. Didn't realize there was so much good riding out there! Sounds like the Luge area is a popular one to hit so I'm definitely gonna be heading out there for at least a day.

Good to know about the heat. I've been on a couple rides out here in Tucson that go longer than expected & if you run out of water you can be in trouble real quick

If that helmet wasn't $160, I'd get it for you and call it a Bday gift. Maybe a gofundme?

Great ride yesterday in the Olympic Mountains! Not much better than shredding loamy singletrack through old growth forest! Digging the new wheel setup. Shaved half a pound off vs the stock wheels and that wasn’t even the main goal! Happy with the Industry 9 1/1 hubs so far.
