    Items needed:

    4" sewer pipe and caps
    PVC Resin
    Tire Valve
Something to fill cannister to prevent sensors from moving...I used a plastic bag.

    Tools:
Drill and bit to fit valve
    Saw to saw pipe

I cut the pipe so that there was a small gap between the caps when they are on. I put a cap on one end with resin, and put the sensors in the bag and placed in the cannister. Then I drilled out a hole for the valve. I used a smaller bit in size to cut the hole and then a 3/8 metal bit to make it big enough for the valve to fit tightly, and that bit also tapered the hole which was good. I did that from the inside of the cap. I put some resin around the hole and inserted the valve. Then with resin, I put the other cap on and had to smack it in place. Its a good idea here to remove the inner valve needle.

I left it for 24hrs and then used my compressor to get it to 30psi. I placed it in the compartmental in the bed and the light has gone off. What a fun little project!

I always wondered why you cant just put them in the spare tire??? Can this be done or does it need to be something like this^^^?

Your fix is very ingenious. I opted to take the instrument panel apart and put black electrical tape over the sensor light. It is simple and easy and because of the background colour of the instrument panel it is a near invisible fix.

I saw the idea here or on Toyota Nation. Just a correction, I may have used a 3/8 to drill the hole and a 1/2 metal bit to get the perfect fit for the valve.

I don't think terrorism is a big concern here in Newfoundland. I think Capita can second that. :)

I am waiting for someone who has done this to drive to an airport, nuke plant, or military base and get a full inspection.

    Too many to list

Its mainly to get the dash light off for us who went with aftermarket wheels and the tpms wont fit anymore.

I just put my scangauge on top of my steering column and it covers the llight.

I am wondering what type of search or stop would care if your TPMS is in a pipe?
Or is it that it could be mistaken for an explosive device?

If you want to do this with a 2" steel nipple and 2 threaded steel caps drill a hole in one cap pick up a regular schrader valve that does not need to be glued in.Then you could disassemble it for the TPMS inspection station.

Use a universal TPMS band to hold them in place around the wheel...

    http://www.corvetteguys.com/tpms-bracket.html

You can buy a band for each wheel and put the sensor in it so your TPMS works fully...or put all four in the spare under one band. Just space them equally so you can balance it.

Bad idea... they aren't dummies and do know when something doesn't really belong and deserves closer attention. If you try to hide it you're guaranteed a day of hell and a torn up truck as they search for more. I used to cross the Mexico border daily to a twin-plant operation in Juarez...they usually had 5 or 6 vehicles in various stages of disassembly just because they were suspicious.

When you're getting a random search declare any thing that's strange up front and tell them exactly what it is...just like you would your weapon if you're carrying with a CC permit. They may cut it open to verify, but it will most likely stop right there at least.

I think it would be maybe better to put at least one screw-on cap so it can be easily disassembled to show them what's inside.
