I'm trying to convince my buddy Rich to let me drive his around the parking lot. His front suspension costs as much as my tacoma.

Yea, but there's not Applebee's in the desert.........

Hey Rahl, I submitted a request for a quote on my tonneau for a interested party in Cali to Fastenal. Any tips? Any discounts? LOL Is Blue Line Freight a stand alone company or does the shipment piggyback with the company trailers?

Getting started on the arts and crafts portion of the doors. Will sew them together tonight. Tomorrow I’ll add snaps.

I'm curious to see how durable the finished product ends up being. This canvas is thinner than I thought, so we'll see how it does with highway speeds. If this doesn't workout, I'm thinking I'll buy just clear vinyl, the thickest I can possibly get. Then just add snaps directly to that, so no sewing involved.

I wonder if the clear vinyl would be more prone to ripping than the canvas. I want to say that the canvas will be okay. The Jeep tops from the 70s and 80s weren't much.

That's why decided to go with my original plan of canvas and vinyl vs just vinyl because I thought the same as well. Sewing this will be fun. For now I have staples holding it how I want it vs sewing pins. True randyfab style.

Hell, pulling it off no matter the result is a win in my book. How many folks can say they've built their own half-doors with soft windows?

haha true true. If these windows are as effective as I'm hoping they'll be, I foresee myself running half doors most of the time.

Wait a minute! She's home? And she's allowed you to bring the doors inside?! I've been barred from working inside after I burned the carpet.

No she's at her in laws right now. I'm teleworking and will join them when I finish. She don't care though. No way I'm working in the garage right now, it's hot AF.

If you make your hems doubled or tripled and no less than double sewn seams with the vinyl inside of all of that, then seal those, you won't have to worry about water intrusion and that will help reinforce those areas allowing you to pull the canvas taught. That will make it less flimsy at highway speeds. Nothing will make them absolutely not a little loose but you could add thin metal or heavy plastic Stays bent outward to add some resistance. Those Stays could be attached to the insides of the doors with the same snap system.

That's the plan, all edges are doubled over, and will get double sewn. Prolonged highway speeds will take its toll on them otherwise.
