This video provides a decent explanation of decay with an example. I would recommend watching the whole thing, but 4:35 dives right into a 50 day decay in a stand still market.

 

Hmmm...I think I just "Stole" an option contract...I was looking at the October calls for DFEN and pricing in my head a $20 share price at some point before then...So I was looking at the $20 OCT 20 calls...and then I started poking around the Level II bids and asks and noticed some clown had an ask for the $17 OCT 20 call of $2.55 which is wildly underpriced...just 1 contract...but I grabbed it...

 

Yeesh. These pharmas make no sense. I saw one released a news article they were having promising results on a vaccine attempt in pigs, thus you expect at least a positive day? Was down, not significantly, but was down. I think I'll add Phrama companies to the list of ones to learn about their workings for investing.

I think "long term" is relative. For me, "long term" is ~next spring, when we should (hope...) see $40.xx NRGU, and then I'll bail. Long term does not mean 15+ years where, yeah at that point I think the decay will come into it. And, with that video, we're not necessarily in a stable market, I hope by February we are better, etc. and at that point, I wouldn't long hold leveraged ETFs.

 

Yea, whats with that ? .. received a market watch update on my phone last night late that stated nrz a 45 billion dollar company was moving locations from wa to AZ because of current conditions or something like that. So just did a search for the story and now poof it's gone.

 

Also the decay is destroyed by major market events...like the march 23 collapse...If you were in a year ago you would be dramatically down, but that's not decay...and with the recovery happening that should obviously outpace decay...Decay works against balances in leveraged ETF's in steady markets where the underlying assets are closing even or down every once in a while...That's when decay starts chipping at your value. That's where that exit point comes in. Rapid market movements can't be conflated with decay...

 

For real I have been watching for a price that begins with $0.02xxx to get in for a flip...it's been nothing but up since I started watching....

 

My trailing stop just hit for those July BABA calls. 26% gain. I'll take it.

I forget who was talking about missing out on potential losses before. Almost every trade I make has a profit target and a loss target. As long as I stay between them I consider that trade successful. Looking back on the could of, should of just makes you more prone to bad trades. You hold a winning position overnight and at open it's suddenly a loosing position.

Perfect example is me dumping those VXX calls yesterday. My profit target was 5%. Once it reached that I set a trailing stop. That closed out at a 16% gain. If I'd have held I will have made another 10% today. I didn't and I don't care because I crushed my original profit target.

That's just how I do things but it may help others thinking of short term trading. Make a plan and stick to it.

It's a deliberate and deceitful effort by the activists to not address any of this. Those community shootings have no pockets. There's no money in that.

 

Also, check out secondcitycop.com for actual news. I spent a decade in Chicago, got out four years ago - oh, and I worked at the largest trauma center in downtown Chicago. Talk about a problem no one wants to mention......

 

I caved and picked up some INO late in the day. I had a look at the options pricing so I got 500 shares at $21.09. I'll sell 5 JULY 2 $22 covered calls for $4.30. That's $2150 in the bank for the contracts. Plus another $455 if the shares get called away. Let's just hope they don't tank in pre-market and drive down my contract price.

 

Looks like another day for the markets.

Far easier to blame others (or "the establishment") for our troubles than to look in the mirror.

I have to tell myself to hold NRGU. I know oil has been stale everything has been level for 2 months now. Keep thinking it's not worth my time.
