Miller 255 really burns in the new Tacoma kits!

    Can I get some deets?

    Wire size?
    Wire speed?
    Heat setting?
    Gas and gas flow setting?

I notice you credit the M255. Have you used other wire welders?

I am leaning towards your skills are making those welds vs the machine.

    Care to elaborate?

Regardless, that is some fine welding.

I’ve had a 251 and 252 prior to the 255 and I’m loving the 255 a lot more after a little use and understanding all the settings

I think the biggest thing I notice is how you can consistency lay the bead without stopping. Do you ever worry about heat warpage or is the material thick enough for you to not give a fuck? Also I almost never can tell where your initial tacks were.

Went over to the open-3-days-a-week independent shop. 80cf cylinder purchase was $175, plus $35 for a C25 fill. Although slightly more expensive than the more distant Airgas place, it took less time & gasoline, so about even - and supported a mom-and-pop small town business.

Attaching regulator and hose from regulator to Titanium 170. I assume no teflon tape, and a soap solution bubble-check for leaks?

Correct. Also no need to over tighten them either. Torque is generally 30-40ft-lbs (as a general rule of them)

Yep. Some like to use tape as Lang as you are sure non can break off and get into the regulator. I never use it. Soap water is a good practice.

The majority of the arm is welded in a jig. I move the heat around and stop and start a bunch. I also do all the internal rib welding then let the arm cool all the way down before doing the top plate

Are you making these for production or for yourself? If for yourself, you have a build thread for your rig?

Today I learned about the destructive properties of plasma sparks when cutting steel a mere few inches off of a concrete floor. Whoopsies.

Getting started on the next project. Pretty happy with how these came out.

just kidding, this is a frame repair apparently done by a previous owner from a poster in the first gen forum.

    A thing or two...
What's the plan for the front skid plate? Are you modifying or building from scratch? Or will the new bumper provide the mounting point for the skid?

I’m going to put two rivnuts on the bottom of the square tube. I’m going to cut off the front of my ifs skid right at the bend. I will build a new front portion from 1/4” (what I have handy). It will essentially bolt up like a normal ifs skid.
