LMAO i genuinely had a great laugh at this part. Mainly because it's so so true. This has got to be the biggest gripe of this truck in general. My 2019 was no different. I re geared 5.29's and got Ovtuned and this truck is amazing now. Drives like a truck again!

Bill is a welcome addition to the third gen forum.

He never bashes, he never insults. He actually often defends the third gen in his own special non-verbal way.

He's like a happy cartoon balloon bouncing from thread to thread.....interspersing the 3rd gen subform with delightful little GIFs.

    HI BILL!

In the long term, the gas mileage different doesnt add up to super huge amount per year, but it's note worthy that the tundra is behind the curve on mpg compared to the current market.

But I still love that 5.7. Just the right amount of everything

It doesn’t drive like shit, it just drives different than you’re used to. Stop babying it and be consistent, the truck will figure it out and be fine

At work. Our Package cars come with the 6.0 GM V8. The new models being put in service have a reprogrammed trans that shifts to second early and the car comes with a 2.5inch exhaust instead of the 3 inch in the older models. The gear selector also physically locks you out of selecting first gear.

Use google. A simple search on "tacomaworld <your keyword here>" will work, but there are other more sophisticated ways to search the site with google. The search engine on the site sux in comparison; not uncommon.

I wouldnt mind more MPGs out of my Tundra but my 2018 MT Taco averaged between 15-19 and my 2019 Pro Tundra has been averaging between 14-18, so its not a huge difference. I actually ran an all highway trip and managed 19.

Weird how an automatic transmission works...
I have zero problem with being the first off the line at a stop light, or passing, or just accelerating. I need to find a used, unmodded '16 on a dealer lot and test drive to see what all this is about. I mean, I thoroughly enjoy driving this "turd gen" more than my previous 2nd gen.

Better yet, use "site:tacomaworld.com" (no quotes necessary) to tailor your results to specifically that site. This can also be tailored for searching other sites of your choice.
Use of search engines and search operators really should be a basic skill taught nowadays.

To be fair to the OP, it is entirely possible he has checked in here on those rare times when someone isn’t gnashing their teeth or clutching their pearls over the transmission programming.

I mean, the odds are slim but it is possible.

Is that 19 hand calculated for a tank? If so, that’s freaking impressive. The trip summary on my Tundra would show 19-20 all the time, but I never got above 15.6 for a tank and that was all highway.

It’s impressive? I drove from the Bay Area to SoCal, with the passes and everything, I still got 22.6 mpg. 265 tires

I meant if he averaged 19 mpg in the Tundra. I could drive like grandpa and still not get above 16 for a tank in the Tundra. My Tacoma is currently averaging 19.6 mpg in mixed driving.
