What Have You Done To Your 2nd Gen Tacoma Today?

If the drum brake is adjusted before it's bled the brake shoe will be close to the drum. If the drum brake is not adjusted and "is loose as possible" the shoe will have to move further to get to the drum and therefore more fluid (and air) will be moved for each pump of the brake pedal. Pretty basic.

 

Nice job. Will have to remember this when I replace my OEM radio.

 

Went up to Tahoe national forest over the weekend with the wife and found a few trails. Have a shit ton of mods to do once everything arrives. Should have the truck nice and dialed by August.

 

Its not as bad as it sounds. Goop it all! Don't worry about how much of it you use. I've noticed a small spot on a corner it coming apart a lil bit but still held on pretty good since noticing bout 6months ago. Looked @ it behind & it looks like its a lil thin in that corner. Wanna take & touch up bumper might touch that corner a lil bit. Overall it was fairly easy!

Need some advice.
So I dropped my truck off about 2.5 weeks ago to have the 4.88s installed. Throughout this time, I called him multiple times and left several messages with no reply. Today he FINALLY calls me back and tells me the front diff needed a tool to check the backlash, and he had to wait for it to come in. He did admit he ran in to some issues and it took almost 4 days to correct those issues. However, he believes my front passenger side wheel bearing is going out because it now has a “roar” while driving down the road. I’ve never had an issue with them, but I understand they need replaced after so many miles. My question is, if the gears were not installed properly, would this cause a roaring noise?
I have a 2011 Tacoma 2.7 with 140k miles.

 

You're supposed to use a little computer gadget to bleed the brakes, I don't know if you did that or if it's every time you bleed the brakes.

But if you try the Tundra booster and MC I promise you'll be impressed. Search "my brake upgrade (updated)".

 

If the gears aren't set up properly they can definitely roar, grind, whine, and chatter.

I don't know about IFS 4wd and axle/bearing issues on the 2nd gen at all.

 

Sometimes my work is easy but somebody's got to do it (not me in the pic, is my boat)

But my Tacoma always works hard and always comes through for me

I think I might know about the other mod. Let me see if I can find a thread. If you dont know what it is anyway, I'd just remove it all together.
Edit: I was thinking of a different mod that is for 4wd. No idea what that is.

Maintenance day. Brake pads, rotors, spark plugs, and windshield wipers. 35,800 miles 2015 trd sport. Had a hell of a time getting the old rotor off with a rubber mallet and im not even in a salt state Surprised to see the old plugs gapped this high as well. Glad to see that the plug changes on these trucks are pretty straight forward.

 

You can add another retaining clip on top to prevent brake pad slap

 

Is it aftermarket? I reused all the factory clips

 

Napa ones work just fine. It basically keeps the pads snug in place. You’d definitely hear it when driving forward after reversing, and vice versa. If you don’t hear that metal slap then you’re fine. Mine drove me crazy for heads and attracted unwanted attention lol

Well I’ll be replacing the wheel bearings / assemblies tomorrow so hopefully that’s all it is. I’ll keep everyone updated
