That's what I wish Toyota would sell in the US. Just rebadge all of the current Land Cruisers as Lexus automobiles, and give us their "export to the rest of the world" version.

We had a few of them when I was in Africa decades ago.
A team managed to burn one to the ground, right outside our compound. Never got a good explanation of how it happened...
Other than that, nobody had problems with them, besides the ass tards that kept wrecking. But that isn't Toyota's fault

My infatuation with Toyota trucks started back in 2010, when I was working out of COB Basrah in southeastern Iraq. My unit was living in the SOF compound, mostly because Big Army didn't know what to do with a bunch of gun-toting Navy combatant dudes.

One night, a bunch of SOF bubbas rolled through the ECP after a mission. I saw one of their Hiluxes had the hood, fender, and part of the cab stitched up pretty good with 7.62 of some flavor. The guys didn't even seem fazed, maybe because that vehicle damage wasn't fresh. Either way, I decided then and there that I would eventually get a Tacoma. 10 years later and here I am, finally able to afford one.

As for FOB crawlers? We had a gnarly old GMC pickup with no shocks and most of a windshield. Pretty sure it got caught in the open during some IDF from our friendly neighborhood mortar crew, because it made some real worrying sounds and leaked fluids like a sieve.

if you ever get me drunk around a campfire remind me to tell you about the lesbian loop, the best SKT ever, the Yarmouk traffic circle, blowing up the potato chip factory, and the ice cream shop at the wall of death

I'll be honest, I never had to transition away from using military jargon. Virginia Beach/Hampton Roads is MilitaryTown USA, so your average 7-11 clerk knows what SOF is. Made my post-separation life a lot easier.
