Another anecdote: I'm in a 2019. Tried the 04b31 reg.octane/stocktire/THX file for 300 miles. Was boggy and did some crazy downshifts trying to get speed uphill. Had no oomph behind all the high RPM commotion.

Couldn't tolerate it on highways. Switched back to the stock tune for a few days. Much peppier, and less drama.

Today I flashed to the reg.oct/stock tire/non-thx file, and... no bog, no dramatic downshifts going uphill on the highway! Decent tune. Kinda like the 2019 beta he put out recently.

For some reason the THX file didn't suit my truck. Drove weird. Lotsa pedal pressure to make it go and when it did go it was slow and bogged. The engine was screaming yet the truck was not getting with the getting. Like a manual car with a bad clutch almost.

For those of you switching to non THX file, are you also cleaning LV/At?

It's been working good for me, using the 33" premium file for 04b00 and 31.6" tires but curious about how the base feels like..

What gauge do you use to monitor misfires?

IIRC, Mat had said that the ECU doesn't actually monitor misfires. The ECU monitors when conditions are present that could result in a misfire.

Yup, he said something like that for sure, but when the count of possible misfires gets 30+, the thought of having an actual misfire starts creeping in. I swore I was able to feel something when my truck would register some of the “possible” misfires. Anyway, it’s all good now because zero is where it’s at now.

    Edit to add:
i just wanted to include my experience with this tune as it relates to this issue and say that it seams to be fixed because over the years, there’s been a lot of talk on this topic. Some users and potential buyers could have had some reservation because of it.

Looks like @ihatemytruck uses scan gauge. I use OBDFusion. Others use Carissa or Carista... I forget what that one’s name is.

I ended up using the stock premium tune for now and it's not bad. Truck seems to shift a little better even with my steel bumper and sliders. Still feel like I have to put the pedal down a bit more than I like to pick up speed on the highway but so far it's better than 1.05 for me. Only have 50 miles on it so far but I think it will get better. Still debating if I want to re-gear to 5.29's. A shop down in Chula Vista quoted me about 3200, but they take their time for a couple days on the job.

@monkeyevil Yes I was using ovtune on windows 7. I updated to windows 10. I did compare system ID's and it did in fact change from my previous id. I had to contact ovtune and get a new reg key. I ditched the old computer and got the reg key for the newer laptop. So yes from going to windows 10 from 7 it did change my System ID. Pretty stupid and very hard to figure out because it did leave my name next to the system ID even though it had changed. Matt came on and said it probably changed. This is the only reason that I even compared the 2.

Definitely re-gear!!! I don't have all the weight you have and i'm glad I did. Call Premier West Gears in Riverside. They have the best prices around and they get great pricing from Nitro Gears. 1 day install and done right!

I misunderstood. Thought you said you used your scangauge for misfires. :)
