Yep. It just so happens many of the chlorinated brake cleaners aren't flammable, so they aren't useful for seating tire beads or no-start diagnosis.

Your truck is too clean, it needs some trail dirt.

I grabbed a relatively clean 2-gallon air tank off the curb yesterday, looking to add it to the 4Runner as an expansion tank for the ARB pump.

Gotta find some fittings, and make some magic happen to get it in place. Anybody have a build thread or bookmark to share?

i had a build thread link somewhere. @tacoma16 has one in his system he showed off a few weeks back when i told him i was considering doing to same thing. the twin ARB compressor is allegedly 100% run time so you might not need to worry about it?
talk with pete he knows more on the subject

I’ve got the smallest ARB pump they make, def not 100% duty cycle. I’ve seen @tacoma16 setup at the M&G, but that was many doobies ago, and the details of it are hazy at best haha.

Just remember those things rust on the inside and can explode like a bomb once pressurized.

My poor rig needs some maintenance it seems.

Put on the right turn signal yesterday and it was hyper flashing, so I stopped to see which one was out. It was the front right, so I punch it. It turns back on. o_O Need to check all the plugs and re-seat the bulbs I guess.

Now the bed has started the dreaded rattle again. 2 years ago they 'simply re-torqued' it at the stealership for me. My guess was it was already tight and they just over tightened it to make it stop rattling.

Just bought the T55 bit, and I am making some spacers out of 4wheeler utility trailer bed. It is made from plastic sheets that they heat and suction form on to molds. I can have as much of the 1st runs and throw aways as I can take, its very useful stuff for lots of things.

Going to make some simple squares and drill a hole in them, take the loose bolt out. Put the plastic spacer between the bed and the mount. Put bolt back in. This way the softer plastic spacer will wear away instead of the bed. I can replace the spacer if/when needed.

Will see how well it works. :notsure:

That's if you don't drain the tank (they bitch and say daily, i've done it once a week for years without issues), don't add in oil every once in a while, over pressurize it, and have a shitty/ busted pressure release valve
His single piston ARB will never put it to that point.

Thanks for the tip! I’ll be sure to pop my inspection camera inside to take a good look for rust before I bother riggin’ about with fittings.
I was also planning to mount the tank externally, perhaps where spare tire used to be. Hopefully the (incredibly thin) floor would deflect any explosions downwards.

Not too much to it. Believe all the fittings are Standard 1/4” npt

biggest thing is use a stainless/high heat resistant line from the compressor to the tank. If you are running lockers then, compressor to distribution block using that high temp line.

I’ll grab some photos for ya

Technically you require mud flaps as well. o_O

It really comes down to how you drive, how you interact with the police.

Lots of Aussies run them and watching them wheel with whatever looks like a truck, i think it's a good way to go. for what we do. Super high clearance rear end, need to strap everything down, put whatever you feel like into it like a dog box or a contractor's box like @tacoma16 did.
basically saying i'd do it too if i have my bed ripped off
